I asked this on another forum, but apparently no one who has used these rods has logged on there yet. Or maybe Falcon rods aren't popular. Maybe you guys can help me.

Although the lady at Falcon insisted the Expert series hadn't been dropped, she admitted they aren't in production. About the only real comment I could find on these rods was that they are a bit underpowered for their rating. Only site where I could find these rods for sale has them listed for either $280 or $290 depending on length.

Based on this price and the excellent reputation Falcon has on various forums, I purchased a 6'6" and 7" Medium and a 6'9" Light (for much less! ;D ). "Roadwarrior" has said that a 6'6"-7' medium action rod could handle 90% of what you need for bass fishing. I currently have a MH treble hook rod and a MH single hook rod.

I'd like to know all I can about these rods. What lures do you use with them? What is your opinion of them in general? How do they compare to other rods such as Dobyns, Powell, Loomis, Lamiglass, etc. Sensitivity?

I have a Falcon Expert 6'6" MF casting rod I use for throwing 1/4oz TR worms in lighter cover.It weighs slightly less than 4 oz it is very sensitive and well balanced,I traded a guy a spinning rod for it and have not had it very long..but I am very impressed with this rod.

Thanks, tbird, that is one of the techniques I want to try. Information on these rods has been hard for me to find. Appreciate any info I can get on them. I'm pretty excited to be getting them. Up to this year none of my rods could be called anything but mediocre at best. Am planning on trying lots of things this year that I've never done it the past...starting with T-rigging and Senkos. The wacky rig is high on my to do list also.

From what it sounds like whenever I talked to falcon the expert rods will be built again.  I live in Broken Arrow where the rods are made and whenever I was going into the store when they carried the experts they would still suggest to get the cara over the expert

You did good, I don't know the specs on the other 2 rods but I would think the 7' rod would be good for TR,wacky rig and light CR and the light for drop shot or small topwaters.

Okie: Just maybe the Falcon lady wasn't trying to be vague. Maybe they are improving the Expert series with plans to keep them in the line-up. I would have had a Cara T7 Finesse Jig rod, but the gentleman who posted it on here never replied. He posted the ad at the end of March, and had only made 8 posts when I checked last weekend. Assume he has disappeared.

Tbird: Will post my impressions after I have a chance to use them. However, there is no doubt in my mind that I will be thrilled with them. With the exception of my fly rod, my previous rods could best be described as junk when compared to any of today's rods including those in the $60-$80 range.

Of the 3 new rods I've purchased this year, the only one to catch a fish was the cheapest, a $60 Tec Spec. It was average size....for a minnow! LOL. I need to get out by myself. So far this year I have been babysitting my grandsons whenever I've gone fishing. No boat and the lake is new to me. We stay where everyone else beats the water to a froth as I worry about them too much to start trampling through the woods and brush.

Falcon Rods are very popular and although I currently don't own one I plan on buying 2 or 3 soon. The Medium Action "lure weight: 1/4-1/2" is to light for my type of fishing which is heavy cover.

I do not have any of the Expert series but I do have several of the Cara T7s and absolutely love them.

Was wondering why the Expert series were not listed on the web site anymore.

That's what they are making it sound like, if that is the case, I can't wait to get my hands on one.  Sorry you didn't get a chance to try the cara out.  They are all I use and are awesome rods

Catt your goin to love falcon, i fish falcon T7 rods almost exclusively since laid my hands on them.. of course i had to get two loomis rods but in my opinion ill take my falcons over them and my st.croix rod any day

I have an original Falcon Expert casting rod in excellent shape from 2001 (6' Medium/Fast Action).  Wondering what ever happened to this series and what this rod (which hasn't seem much action in the last few years) would be good for technique wise?  Thank you!

I never owned one, but I remember handling them, always wanted one. I remember them in high school, so 04-05 and I believe the Cara T7 line became the top dog in the line up. That was when the Cara was $140. I believe they used Shikari blanks.

Falcon rolls their own blanks, they don't use premade blanks from those companies although Shikari made some good blanks.
