BPS carbonlite reel

Featured Replies

hey guys I'm been eyeing the carbonlite reel for quite some time now.  I still haven't pulled the trigger to buy one because I don't know how it will perform.  For those who have this reel give me your honest insight as to how it performs.  I like it's design, I mean it looks better than all the bass pro reels, but the key question is will it hold up to bass fishing.  Let me know alright.

Hold up to bass fishing?  Most anything will.  Bass aren't exactly gear blasting fish.  Most gear failures are the user's fault, or occasionally a manufacturing defect.  The question is more of how will a reel hold up to prolonged use over the years.

I've got a Carbonlite reel.  It's basically a Pro Qualifier with a carbon fiber handle and a different main gear material.  Good reel.  I use mine daily and haven't had an issue with it.

I've got one on the way, should be here tomorrow or Monday.  I didn't really need another reel, but they're on sale and I had a $20 off coupon.  I'm anxious to see how it fairs against the older Revo Premier I have.

I have 5 PQs and 1 Carbonlite. If the Carbonlite had come out sooner, I would have about 4 Carbonlites and only 2 PQs.

The Carbonlite is a great reel with features and light weight unmatched at it's regular price; at the current $99 price - it's a steal.  I have my Carbonlite on a Loomis MBR842C and it makes a great all purpose rig.

I have two and my dad has one and so far they have been great. When it's windy out they are my go to set ups.

mine broke on a hook set on a four pounder..

What part broke?

How does he know it was a 4 pounder?

Well that depends on allot of factors. I had one with 8lb fluro and a 6ft rod for jerkbaits this spring and it threw some pretty light stuff with no problems.

I'm gonna admit that I must have overlooked the reel part...  ::( For some reason I thought you were talking about the rods...  ;) my mistake...

Even this aspect is 95% user controlled.  Any decent reel, if maintained properly, will last a lifetime.
