I have a Daiwa Zillion and one of the knobs on the handle is hard to turn and does not spin freely.  I can not figure out how to take it off, however I have flushed it with water and applied Daiwa oil to no help.  Any idea's as to how to fix this?

Pop the center cap off of the knob. A bent paper clip works great for this.

Is there a screw? If so, remove it, then take the knob off. Flush any bearings you find and re-lube. If your handle doesn't have bearings, just grease it up and re-assemble

When you remove the center cap there is only a flat gold face inside, nothing with a screw on it to remove.  Not sure what to do?

The knobs are riveted. 

So am I S.O.L.?

I just removed the knob cap and sprayed with a garden hose to eliminate anything that maybe in there, and re-lubed.  It is still hard to turn.  I really do not feel I should have to purchase something that is $150 to fix a $250 reel.  I have 3 Steez, as well as 2 SOL's and 5 Alpha's and have never had any issues with any of them and very little up-keep other than cleaning and re-lubing.

You might be able to get a direct replacement for your handle under warranty?

You can order a 4 ball-bearing Daiwa handle with knobs from Daiwa. You'll need to look through the reels they offer, look through the particular schematics for that reel, then order by part number(s) You could get just about any handle, actually, depending on what you're willing to spend

Another option is to ask on the classifieds. A lot guys install those pricey "enthusiast" handles and will sell their stock handles for little money

im also thinking a TD-Z handle is a bolt-on to the Zillion, which would be a decent upgrade for a smaller price.

grease and grit have caked togeter to form a concrete like adhesive between the knob and the handle posts. Water will not clean it out. You need to use something that can cut the grease and flush it out, but also something that won't ruin the knobs. I would start with a full can of WD -40 or a similar product like Blaster. Wear eye protection , preferably full gogles and face sheild. Use the extension tube to force the spray between the knob and the post. This may be a long process where you let it soak and repeat the spraying until you get it all broke loose. Do it in a garage or outdoor area becuase it will be messy. If WD-40 isn't strong enough, then you can use products like brake cleaner or carb cleaner, remember, these products need to be used in a safe , ventilated area with saftey precautions. After you have them cleaned, I would soak them in a solution of hot water and soap or simple green. That will remove the residues from the stronger cleaners. If you have acess to an air compressor and blow gun, you should dry them and force the air through the knobs to blow out the remaining crud and cleaners. then oil the knobs and they should be fine.

Only the JDM Zillions knobs are removable. and the 50th (Any Zillion with bearings in the knobs) so on a normal Zillion the knobs are riveted on and you cant get them off and BOY does that SUCK! I dont know if someone else said that I only read the first post I didnt feel like reading all of them..
