Heavy Kistler 7'6" rod with 17 pound test flouro with a 12 pound test two and a half foot to a one foot fluoro leader (depending on conditions) with a 1/2 ounce tungsten weight and clear facet cut glass beads (2 above and 2 below swivel) and a large swivel using a Shimano Curado 200 reel.

First choice of bait is a lizard hooked in the side with a 4/0 EWG hook followed by a creature bait and then the long Anaconda.

Lizards and creatures do well on Virginia lakes. Try the Anaconda on tidal rivers.   :D

P.S. to above post.

Be prepared to lose some setups.

If you don't want to spend the money on tungsten weights may I suggest brass and then lead?

Brass gives off a different sound when hit by the glass beads. But they are shiny and sometimes the bass hit the brass weight and not the bait.

Go figure. :D

Gblanks 7'6" MH/F

Chronarch 100b

14 lb Suffix Siege

Thanks guys. What does a strike usually feel like for you guys. Usually it's a series of taps for me.

Thanks guys. What does a strike usually feel like for you guys. Usually it's a series of taps for me.

If I am fishing it fast then it feels like you described.  Sometimes they are taps and sometimes its just weight.  I also get those bites where you pick up your rod and nothing is there at all.

7'6" shimano crucial mh/fast -quantum te 7.1 - yo zuri hybrid 15#.

i was using braid for a long time but ive just switched just to see how much difference i was actually getting with the braid vs. the drawbacks.

the pros.... you can feel the color of the rock your dragging across with braid.

the cons...if you hang on that rock good luck breaking off.

also ive been having a bit of trouble with braid diggin into my spool lately and that is ticking me off.

the hybrid is doing awesome just as i expected so ill probably stay with that till i talk myself into buying some flouro.

Vendetta VTC73-7, Advantage HSTA, 50# PP, 15#CXX leader.

Powell 704C, Shimano Curado 200 DHSV, 17 lb. BPS Fluoro main line, 14 lb. BPS Fluoro leader.

Feel of the bites varies, it can be a really strong "tap", or sometimes there just isn't anything, and still other times the line just moves off.
