reel problem

Featured Replies

I was fishing my brand spanking new Pro Qualifier today, when the thumb bar did not quite disengage and I casted out. The reel made a horrible clicking noise and now makes noise when I cast but not any time else. What is wrong with it?

It's broken. ;D ;D ;D

Sounds like you may inadverntly stripped some gears or something along those lines. I'd recommend not using it as you may damage other parts and it will cost more to repair.

BPS may replace it if it is brand new. Good Luck

It's defective so send it back. My PQ is baby's butt smooth.

I have three that are the same (bb smooth) 8-). Take/send it back.

If you didn't have the thumb bar fully engaged, then the pinion gear was probably very close the the spool drive pin. They evidently connected during the cast and probably chewed the end up a bit. It could have also damaged the drive gear as the spinning spool would have jerked the pinion fairly hard. The good news is that BPS has a no questions over the counter warranty. Just take or send it back and they will give you a new one during the first year or you could have bought an extended warranty for a few dollars more and had the same coverage foe 3 or 4 years. BPS has the best reel warranty in the market.

Take the reel back don't even mess with it.

Sounds like the pinion gear and yoke aren't working properly, and the reel isn't disengageing fully...

Just get a new reel...

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

It was operator error I think, but I filled out the return forms last night.

I also wanted to say thanks for the advice.
