What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? I have both and the only difference that I can notice is that the breakdown rods are much easier to transport than a one piece rod. I guess the flex of the rod could be an advantage of the one piece, but that is the only thing that I can think of. 

I have fished 2 pc rods a bunch, both for Bass and light saltwater. I can tell you I have caught just as many fish on the 2 pc rods as I have the 1 pc rods, and that include dropshoting. IMHO as long as you but a decent quality rod, you should be good to go on the 2 pc. Mine are Shimano Clarus rods, about 80.00 ea.

The rod is going to flesx what it has to and that depends of the power rating and action regardless of how many pieces the rods is.

When I was younger, I used 2 piece rods a bunch.  They were extremely easy to transport and mess around with.  The problem some of the older rods had was breaking right at the join between the pieces.  With modern materials that are used today in most "quality" rods, that issue is all but gone.  I still prefer a solid one piece rod, but there is no reason to not use a multi piece rod if you need one.

I love the sensitivity and durability of my one piece rod, but one thing i found is that it's difficult to transport if you don't have a truck or you have to walk through the woods. I mainly use two piece rods unless i'm driving to a spot or if the spot is open and not obstructed.

One piece rods are great, but a pain to transport if you drive a coupe like me. 

Two piece rods are easier to transport, but then you have to deal with the top part sometimes rotating after a series of casts. 

I am considering a two piece just for days I don't wanna deal with the hassle of getting my one piece in my vehicle.

Most of my rods are 1 piece, but I do own a couple of 2 piece rods as well.  The 2 piece rods are great when there isn't much room.  Also the come in handy when I have to travel somewhere for work and the is fishing nearby

What I was saying is that rods that are made to flex throughout the entire rod would have a more true flex in a one piece than in a two piece rod more then likely. I also agree that a one piece is more likely to be more sensitive than a two piece.

All my rods are one piece except my 9 foot fly rods which are two piece for obvious reasons. I just prefer the least number of pieces possible.

No it doesn 't, a multipiece rod flexes the same as a one piece versio of the same rod, I know it because I have the same rod 1 piece and 2 piece and the two piece flexes the same as the 1 piece.

A modern multipiece rod is not a one piece rod cut into multiple pieces, each section is designed and built to behave in a certain way so when the pieces are united they behave like 1 piece, also, in modern good quality multipiece rods the difference in sensitivity between a multipliece model and the 1 piece model is so tiny that you simply won 't be able to feel it.
