Okuma Cayenne 200W help!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Ok, so I performed some intense cleaning on my new okuma baitcaster, when I say new i mean I've had it for a couple of months, anyway, I pulled it apart and when I got to the drag system one of the plates fell off of course, I put it back together (the reel) after cleaning and lubing, the way I thought it went back together, it seems to perform perfectly. However, I want to be sure that I'm not messing up my reel. When I put the top drag plate back on after it fell, I put it back to where the concave was pointing up and the plates didn't fit together perfectly. Is this right or am I messing up my drag and reel?

From the way you describe the washer I think you have it backwards. The flat outside edge should be against the fibre washer underneath.

I didn't see a fiber washer it just has two metal plates! :-?

you know, I was looking for that page. GOOGLE YOU HAVE FAILED ME! lol, but the page won't open for me so I'm still stuck. ;)

Same here. I didn't know if it was my browser or not. I have one more source i can pull. I'll get back to ya :-)

Mikes reel repair didn't have one either. Call Okuma and ask them if they can email you a .pdf of the CY-200 reel schematics.

I called some service centers and okuma, the service centers, think that I'm ok but they aren't sure and they couldn't bring up the schematics either, Okuma's guy wasn't available to talk to me, so i'm still stuck.

Drag parts are meant to smush. So, most drag pieces look like this ( ) so they spring together. They should never look like this (( or this )). When you tighten your drag they compress together, forming resistance. Is this what you're talking about?

Yes, thank you, so I did do it right. Thanks for the help 8-)

No problem :-). If you didn't reassemble the drag correctly, it would just spin and wouldn't adjust. You could probably bottom out the drag, or just the opposite. Glad you did it right! look at getting a schematics for that reel, they help lol.

I've been trying to, they are proving quite hard to find, but okuma says that their site should be back up tomorrow.

I just stripped down and cleaned my 9 year old quantum accurist this week. It's awesome now. It's performance tuned but i saw not a drop or color of red in there (quantum hot sauce was supposed to be in there). .RM. was kind enough to send me both oil and grease hot sauce as well as answer my question as to why there was no hot sauce in there. He said they put thick grease in there to protect in shipment and stuff. I probably won't have to clean it for a while now that good stuffs in there. What did you use?

I used X-1R from Penn in the Angler's Pack, http://www.histackleboxshop.com/Penn-92342-Angler-s-Oil-And-Grease-Combo-Pack-p/penn-92342-o-grease.htm

X-1R makes some pretty good stuff for Cars and boats, so I thought I'd give their reel care a whirl. I have also been looking to get mil-comm's lube and grease, bass pro sells it under their name, but mil comm makes some great stuff for weapons, it's only natural they do well with fishing reels. Check it out here: http://www.mil-comm.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=35&Itemid=50

let me know what you think!  8-)
