Knot/Line

Featured Replies

I am just wondring what the concensus is between line type and knot.  Here is what I do...correct me if Im wrong.

Braid - Polamar

Floro - Trilene knot

Mon - Trilene knot

Braid to Floro - Uni

I have heard the Trilene knot will slip with braid and the Polamar will damage Floro causing it to break.  When I first started using Floro it kept breaking and I guess it was the Polamar knot.

I use the palomar on fluorocarbon and haven't experience any breaks. :-/

Braid - Polamar or Uni or Double Uni (Spider Hitch to double the line)

Flouro - Uni or Palomar (Flouro separates the men from the boys in knot tying)

Mono - Cinch, Improved Cinch, Uni, Palomar

I prefer the Albright knot for leaders if they need to pass through the guides.

Me, too. I had my first issue with the albright knot this weekend, though. Completely my fault. I had the leader too long, and the knot would go through the guides just fine, but not through the reel. I wound up, tried casting a mile... birds nest. lost spool of new line.

My knots on line are pretty much all the same. Palomar or improved clinch.

Braid always gets the palomar, though.

Types of fishing can alway cause me to change my knots.

Top water/walking/glide baits- rapala knot

Jig- ALWAYS palomar. dont always have braid, but always use the palomar

and my line to line is always the alberto. Never experienced any issues until I made the leader too long.

Braid = palomar

FC = double uni (palomar for drop shot)

Mono = palomar or uni

Leader = albertos
