cracked epoxy - defect?

Featured Replies

so a part of epoxy on one of the guides on my clarus rod has cracked and flaked off. the threading was exposed and the end has came loose. i have already called shimano and was told that its more than likely a defect and would be covered under warranty. the rod is still fishable though. my thing is , im not sure if i want to pay to ship the one piece rod to get repaired or replaced just for that. i dont think its going to get any worse , but if it does , i dont want it to not be covered because of neglect.

what would you guys do?

It may just be worth it to fix it yourself ?
