15# Yo-Zuri Hybrid

Featured Replies

Hey guys I just ordered some 10,15,20lb spools of hybrid.  I know what im going to use the 10 and 20 for but do you guys think the 15 will be good for everyday spinnerbait fishing and maybe square-bill cranks around cover???  Im now familiar with this line at all just thought i would give it a shot with all the great reviews.  Thanks.

its tough stuff. breaks at about 22lbs if i remember. defiantly would be good for spinnerbaits and such.

15 & 17 # is my choice for spinnerbaits, however I prefer about 12 for shallow cranks around cover. Just me though.

While it is not my favorite, I have used 15# YZ for a variety of of baits on my heavier power rods. It is STRONG stuff. It will work fine for those baits. Good luck, and come on spring. 8-)

I use 15# for pitching directly into cover.

I typically use 10# for spinnerbaits, finesse jigs and T-Rigs.

Occasionally I will bump it up to 12# if I'm fishing areas with lots of underwater brush.

I've yet to lose a fish due to line failure.

Your test sizes are proper.

Although if you are fishing for Aggie bass then you can use 3 pound test as we know Aggies are wossies.  ;D  ;D

That is very true.  But the stuff i will be throwing the square-bill is some nasty stuff on the Alabama River and Coosa River this spring.   But I will problably get the 12# for that though.  Thanks for the input guys.

Given that Hybrib breaks higher than its stated test, you can move down a bit in test and get the same strength as mono.

I used 8# for small cranks and small topwater.

10# for cranks and larger topwater

12# for plastics and spinnerbaits

15# for flipping

I only broken off on Hybrid one time, trying to lift a really big blue catfish over the side by the line. Otherwise, I've never had any breakoffs.

There's a local tackle shop that's selling 600 yds of this line for $5.95. I've never tried it, but it seems to get good reviews here, so I think I'll give it a try.

I think you're on the right track.  15# is great for spinnerbaits.  Should also be great for fishing the squarebills in 3 - 5 feet of water.
