Mattlures Baby Bass

Featured Replies

I picked one up the other day and was wondering if anyone had some tips for it: line size, retrieve speed, etc. And what do you all pay for yours?

I haven't really used it too much.  I paid 8 for mine at a flea market.  I use a slower retreive for it.  I got my strikes by bouncing it on the bottom around structure.  I used 15#.  Hopefully some guys that use it will give you some better info.

The best days I have ever had fishing with it is when I have beat the banks around docks, and fishing narrow ponds. The key for me was to throw it to the shore, then drag it into the water. Also lube up the lure with megastrike or another oily/vaseliney scent. That is a tip from Matt himself

for line i use at least 17lb test .... i use p-line cxx moss green ..... as for retrieve the best for me has been slow and steady ,,,, keep it in the strike zone .....  i also grease my baits up with mega strike ....  the last tip is the most important ,,,, FISH IT AND HOLD ON  ;)

I had good luck with Mattlures fishing open water near structure. I lather them up with MegaStrike. Bought the three-piece special for about $34 delivered. Note: my first set was a combination, Baby Bass, Smallmouth and Striper. I like the color pattern on the Bass the best. My second order was all BB.

This lure weighs 1.3 oz and does not require special equipment. A Medium Heavy or Heavy Power baitcaster is all that you need. I fish Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #12 (19.5 lb test) on all baitcasters. :;)

8-)

17 lb test for me. Most of my succes with it has been pitching and flipping and just letting it flutter down. As stated above "HOLD ON" they crush it!  ;) I also use a treb off the eye on belly and seems to have increased the amount of fish landed. Here's a few pic's ogf the Perch
