Cheap Braid on eBay

Featured Replies

I was looking to see if I could find a cheap spool of Power Pro to pick up and came across this link. I tried to do some research on it and the only thing I could find is that it's made differently and could fray the guides. Anyone used or can tell me more about it from looking at the link?

Try to search this brand, there seems to be plenty of links for it.

It looks like kite string. I'd stay away from it.

I'd pass on it. I've bought several spools of Power Pro on Ebay for about the same price, and occasionally, for substantially less.

This is one review of that line:

Tested was the lime colour, 4 strand.

The Feel of the line is a little rough and coarse with medium stiffness. The Breaking strain verses size is poor. Shape is flattish.

The colour is pale with little gloss and would turn white, any chaffing could not be seen. Testing the line it had a lot of elongation prior to breaking. The weave of the strands are not that tight and can be readily seen and felt, easy to separate.

The line would be pick up a lot of water. This is not a line I would pick. better cheapies available.

It's hard to tell from the pics, but it really looks (and sounds) like fly line backing to me...

If you are just junk fishing then any line will work but if you are chasing lunkers use the best and give yourself the best chance possible. Losing a bass of a lifetime because you saved $2 is just not worth it in my book.

That would make a grown man cry. :'(

Since you can use a good braid for a year or more, its seems it is already inexpensive. I suggest just buying something reputable like Spiderwire, or any of the other popular lines.

I wouldn't buy it. Stay with a known brand. There's a picture of a Porpoise on the spool maybe it's an inshore or saltwater braid looks to thick from anything I have ever used.

China, I'd worry about the lead in the dye

You get what you pay for.

In many cases, I would agree with this..don't skimp on line.. :)

I guess this is the case. I'll stick with the Power Pro for now. Thanks!
