Time for this year's upgrade!!!

Featured Replies

Almost my favorite time of year... Filling out the arsenal.

Currently have:

Curado 201 E7 paired with Loomis GLX BCR 803 for my main soft plastics rod.

Revo Winch paired with a St. Croix Big Cranker for cranks although not great for smaller baits.

Looking at:

Higher end Shimano or Daiwa

Paired with:

G Loomis GLX MBR or something in the same class.

Was thinking jig, worm etc but maybe something more stout than the 803 which awesome but pretty light. :) Reel has to be available in lefty too.

What's everyone's opinion?

For instance Shimano Core 51 paired with Loomis MBR842/3C GLX.

Or Team Daiwa Zillion Type R

Curado / Loomis is my favorite but like to keep my options open.

Also what do we think of Dobyns Champion Extreme versus G Loomis versus Kistler Z-Bone??? Kistler warranty seems subpar.

Thanks for your time!

You can't go wrong with a Curado/Loomis combo. Finish that out with Fireline Crystal and you will be ready for anything that swims in fresh water.

Or 50/12 PowerPro! Especially with the GLX, man that would be a winner!

Actually, you can drive yourself nuts trying to mix and match rods and reels.

The high end products will serve you well and they can be interchanged for various presentations.

My only rule is that you match the reel, line and bait with the rod's specs written on the rod.

As you grow your arsenal you will have a few E5's and E7s plus other brands of reels and some 1000 and 2500 size spinning reels to consider matching with your various rods.

Suggestion: When going out to fish have one or two extra reels spooled and ready to go in case you need to change the reels for what ever reason.  :)

Not a bad idea. Maybe I'll pick up a Core 51 with a MBR Loomis just cause I want one.;)
