Browning rods and reels

Featured Replies

Just curious, has anyone used the browning rods and reels?  Everyone talks about the BPS label, but never browning.

I have a Browning Citori spinning reel in the 2500 size. A very decent and smooth reel with nice drag. It retailed for about $80 when I got it.

I've got a couple of Browning Midas baitcasters from like 3 years ago. They are just backup reels for now, emergency use only basically. They work, and are okay values for the money. But I think I'd recommend a BPS gold or maybe look for a good price on a Curado 200E7. I have both of those too, and both are better reels for that end of the market.

I wasn't really planning on buying one.  I just wonder about them when I browse the BPS cataloge.  I just wonder why they have two of their own brands.

Three if you count Johnny Morris.  It definitely is unclear where the Browning models fit in their lineup.

I've fished th older silver citori bc reels, they were good reels

I have a couple of the Safari travel rods, and I like them just fine.

I own a Browning Midas 6'6" Medium Fast baitcasting rod, and it is by far, my favourite rod of the manufactured rods that I own.  Mind you, I do not own any high end rods such as  G.Loomis.  I do own an Okuma C3 and a St. Croix Premier.  However, the balance, crispness and sensitivity of the Midas is fantastic for me.  I tend to use it for small crankbaits and jerkbaits due to the length and action.

I have 2 Browning Maxus baitcast reels-- I know they are not high end reels but I have had them for 2or3 yrs-they have been very smooth and so far reliable reels so far :D
