Is the Castaic next?

Featured Replies

Saw this on another forum, thought it would be interesting to post here.

The Castaic is the only reel left in Shimanos lineup that could be redone. Do you think they will? If so, what could we expect?

I think it's a good possibility, and we may see a Castaic 200e7, built on the Curado platform with a flippin' switch. I hope it's black.  8-)

I think you'd be more likely to see Instagage installed on a Curado.  That's all the Castaic is anyway, a Curado B with Instagage.

That's what I meant. I think it would sell really well, too. Maybe they'll just offer a Curado with Instagage and dump the Castaic.

I'd love to see a new calais. The 100 is an amazing piece of machinery and would be perfect if it were just a bit lighter.

Probably not.  The Core 100MGFV is as close as you'll get.

I doubt there is much of a market for the Castaic.  Honestly surprised they're still manufacturing it.

Or maybe they had a big bunch left.  :(

Yeah, apparently it's been a pretty weak seller. Who knows.

I just want Daiwa to come out with a COMPETITIVE $120-$150 reel, that's not a Tierra.

I love all four of mine.  Great reels.
