Hey all,

My wife is getting me a guided trip to Lake Fork for my 30th birthday :(

Unfortunately, our resident Lake Fork guru, Mr. Redington, was not available.  My wife is currently in discussions with Doug Shampine of http://lakeforktrophybass.com/

Anyone have any experience with Doug?

Thanks!

Chris

I'd ask Tom if he's not available I'm sure he wont mind recommending someone.

I have lived in the area for awhile and have never heard of this guy at all.  Not in tournaments or anywhere, which don't mean much.

I'd go to the texas fishing forum and ask others.   I'll do so for ya!.

I've fished with Tom Redington and by far I would arrange the trip around one of his open dates if possible.  The other one I would look at is John Tanner.  If you bring a boat with you I would also call Roy Greer "thebassclinic.com", he is a wealth of information and will come on your boat.

I have not heard of him either, but like Matt said, it "don't mean much".  Hey RW, I'm heading back down Thursday.  Wanna come?

When are you guys gonna make it on the weekend, been trying to catch up with Ring Fry for a year now.    Always on Fork on weekdays.

I had 80 hits on Doug, but only a few responses.

As mentioned, Roy Greer will do half price on your boat, he will teach you your electronics.

Is John Tanner chasing the FLW this year, or did he take the year off?

Matt,

I'll be there March 4th and 5th.  Also on the 1st and 2nd of April.  If you are going to be around let me know and we can say hi.

He was guiding when we were there in late Jan.  Seems to be a great guy.

a texas forum didn't have much to say about Doug.   Alot of guys think he's good crappie guy.    Maybe thats why he advertises his own brushpiles.

    Not alot of feedback.

I have used Roy Greer on two occasions and will be with him again in April. He is THE BEST and taught Tom much when he first started guiding on Fork. You will be happy with Roy!!!

Dave parsons is a guide on lake fork i book him every year. lots of big bass and alot of fun to fish with. well worth the education.
