Nebraska Fishing

Featured Replies

When i visit my brother at offut we would go to base lake and do ok. and beaver lake is really good to you just have to have access.

Go on down to Nebraska City to Paap's Sport Shop at the south end of town.  If he is still alive, he knows everyplace in SE Nebraska and SW Iowa that is good.  If you do, tell him the guy that brought in the biggest bass he's ever weighed sent you.

ring fry -

i dont think paap's is there anymore. with all the expansion goin on in nebraska city, i think it was put outta business. however, dont quote me on that, and i will actually be in the area late in nov, and ill post an update for everyone.

there are a few lakes near grand island, however i dont remember which ones.

-guess i didnt help too much, best of luck, and let me know if you find any good places!!

*Disregard what i said about paap's, its still goin strong*

Best in the area is Walnut Creek and it's close to Papillion.  96th and 370 I think.  Another good one is Prairie View in Bennington.  Try those 2 and Zorinsky as well.  Good luck and let us know how you do.

How far you willing to drive?

Burchard and Iron Horse (Dubois) should be real good before ice. Also get on your local NRD site and check out there lakes as well. We have a couple NRD lakes around where I live that are awesome. Also heard Olive Creek up by Crete is producing alot of fish.

It's supposed to be almost 60 degrees tomorrow so I was thinking of taking the kid out after work tomorrow and seeing if we can't get us a catfish or two.  In Omaha, is the consensus that Zorinsky's the best lake for cats or is there another lake I should try out?  And if anyone's fished cats in Zorinsky, what part of the lake would you suggest?  We haven't had much luck and the kid's getting a little tired of going out and not catching anything so I'd like to have at least a sliver of success before we pack it in for the winter.

whearspann is probably the best lake for cats around omaha

I'll keep that in mind, Mark, thanks.  No luck last night, but we only ended up with about an hour's worth of time and it ended up getting pretty chilly.

Sorry for the delay, has been forever since I've been on or fished. :)  Wehrspan became my favorite this summer.  Quantity and quality, my big for the year was 6+.  Walnut is great but lots of pressure, Zorinsky has reaaly declined over the last 5 yrs, you can find I believe more big fish on Zorinsky but very limited numbers and you will need to know the humps and channels to find fish.  The timber has rotted and provides very few fish.

If your willing to drive and buy a Iowa license 3 Mile, 12 Mile Anita and many more lakes within 2:15 hrs.

Mozingo in Missouri (2:00 hrs) is awesome.

Good Fishing and GO BIG RED
