El Salto

Featured Replies

I'm wondering if anyone knows the best time to make a trip to El Salto.  Actually, I am wondering which is better, Feb. or November? I understand that the bass are probably spawning in Feb., is this the best time to make a trip?  I have been to El Salto, 2 years ago in June, and the fishing was good, we caught several fish over 6 pounds and 1 that went close to 10.  Planning a return trip and can't decide between November and Feb.  I haven't heard of anyone fishing there in November so if anyone has some info, please let me know.  Thanks.

By November the lake is at full pool, if I were on the hunt for a bigun I wouldn 't choose November, I would choose late Feb-early March, the spawn and much lower water levels which means the lake is smaller in size.

Thanks Raul, I think Feb. was the way we're leaning anyway.  Just out of curiosity, what season of fishing would it be in November?  I mean there probably isn't really a real "pre-spawn" pattern down there is there?  I really have no idea, just curious.

November in Indiana ....... brrrrrrr !!!!!!, November down here ---> you might need to wear a sweater very early in the morning and very late in the afternoon, in between hours take it off or you will cook.

It means that regardless of the air temperature the water is still warm ( lower 80 's ) so you can expect good fishing as long as there aren 't bluebird skies, November/December the fish would be in your northern early pre-spawn mode but with a lot more activity ( because of the warmer water ). It 's in late Feb/early March when the fish are in full spawn mode.

There is a good topwater bite beginning in Nov. It should be around the last week in 2008 based on a dark moon. Just like I said in the pm, I like Feb a little better.
