vaparrothead
Well made it back last week and everything you heard about poor fishing is true as far as our group was concerned. Pictures can be found at the following site: http://s241.photobucket.com/albums/ff192/rgreenwell1_photo/Brazil%2008/ If anybody would like the details PM me and I'd be happy to regale you with the stories of less than ideal fishing in the Amazon. :'(
Jay_G
I was worried it might be poor based on PBA forums. Sorry to hear that.

vaparrothead
What outfitter did you use; where did you go and did you have any luck?
Lauren
[tt]I went with my biology class and fishing was included. We went fishing at the Pontinal. Sorry for the misspelling but I do not have the map of the place with me. It was one of my exciting fishing trips but we only got to fish one day. Super User Redlinerobert Posted June 16, 2009 Super User Share Posted June 16, 2009 Just caught this thread, sorry you didnt fare well. I'm headed back in November, hopefully water conditions are better this coming season.
vaparrothead
Which outfitter do you use? I'm going to skip this year but plan on November of 2010; taking my son (hopefully).
Super User Redlinerobert Posted August 23, 2009 Super User Share Posted August 23, 2009 I stay at the Rio ***** lodge. best place down there with nice fiberglass bass boats.
Jay_G
Water is high right now from what I was told last week.
vaparrothead
RedLiner: I looked at Rio ***** lodge; too big for me. If I wanna fish with 40 other folks all I gotta do is head for the Potomac. I want to get away from as many folks as I can that's why I pick an outfitter who takes 10-12 max. And yes I asked about the small lodge but they didn't have enough folks to open it when I could go.
Super User Redlinerobert Posted August 27, 2009 Super User Share Posted August 27, 2009 It may sound big, but in all honesty, I've never encountered another boat out there unless it was on purpose. The comfort of the lodge and convenience of having nice bass boats is a huge plus for me in my book. Most of the other places I found use aluminum skiffs. vaparrothead
OK; that's one thing that makes America great; we can go where we want with who we want. Are you going this year? I'm taking a year off and plan on going next year with my son.

vaparrothead
Right now water levels are the highest I've seen them in years!! Hopefully there will be a drought of some type that will bring the water down to acceptable levels. Make sure you post how you did when you get back.
