Eric,

Trust me in that I completely understand. I hope it works out for you to be able to go.

You and me both. :)

Right now, things look really positive. So heres to hoping it stays that way.

I may be the 3rd Florida prospect.  If I start now I think I can make it happen financially and to get the wife convinced.  Keep in touch, That sounds like an awsome trip.

Update.

With all the killings happening in Mexico, and the epicenter being Mazatlan, I've decided to postpone this trip. Part of the trip involves a bus ride from Mazatlan to the Lodge, 2 hours inland. Lots can happen in that 2 hour time span, and if they know that it's a bus full of tourists, well, let's just say that is not a chance I am willing to take.

It's really too bad this is happening right now. However it's just way too risky at this point to go.

Oddly enough I was thinking about this thread earlier today when I took my daughters to the Dentist. I got the bill and almost pooped on myself.

It's probably for the best with whats happening down there right now. Safety is always high on my list when travelling in a foreign country. Hopefully all of the crap down there gets handled somehow and we're all able to re-schedule for another time, although I honestly don't see it happening anytime in the near future. Definitely a bummer. I may end up just making a trip up to Okeechobee for a few days and staying up there instead. That place has been on freakin fire lately.

Okeechobee is on my short list as well. It's probably very similar to the Delta, minus the tide factor.

Having never fished the Delta, I can't really compare the two. It definitely is a place that everybody should try to visit some day. It is a heck a of a trip from your neck of the woods. Thats a beast of a drive if you were to haul the boat down.

Hauling my boat cross country is not on my bucket list. :) I'd rather fly in, hire a guide and fish for a day or two, then head to the Delano or Shore Club for a few nights. ;)

Lol

If you ever drove the boat that far, I may be forced to cut off your Tequila supply.

It,s a real shame you fellas cancelled your El Salto trip. We go every year and haven't had a single problem. Should the interest arise once more, get in touch. We're planning a trip the 3rd week in June 2013.

Funny I was just discussing this trip with Martha. The rest of the year looks pretty lean for us. I am concerned about safety, but it seems that all nas worked out well for those that have made the trip.

Anyone interested in a trip in the coming weeks?

Not going to be enough notice for me to go as much as I want to. Have a couple of big jobs getting ready to kick off in the next few weeks. If you go, make sure you catch a few slobs!

I'm itching for a dedicated fishing trip. It looks like this Miami trip will be spent mostly indoors.

i may be heading for El Salto on November 16... i got a quote of $430 per person, for 2 days of fishing, 3 nights of hotel, all meals included, as well as beverages and beer... its a 15 hour drive from El Paso Tx...

btw, i have a couple spots in my car if somebody is intrested...

Heck. That's far cheaper than I'd have imagined. Hope you have a good time.

  • Super User

That is very under priced. I would suggest getting some references at that price. It costs a little more to go first class!

Jeff

well, this is the webpage for the lodge:

http://www.elsaltolodge.com/trophy_gallery.html

im not really looking for a "first class" lodge... im even willing to sleep in a tent, i only need first class fish... i have asked and they say this Siguis is a good guide... i saw other lodges that look like 5 star hotels, but they are way too pricey, and not really what i would call a "fishing trip".... on my fishing or hunting trips, i normally camp on my tent 3 or 4 days, dont have a bathroom or shower available, cook in my little stove or on the fire, dont even have electricity.... so, a bed and a restroom are a luxury for us....

I did not mean first class amenities. I meant trip. Pm me
