Anyone fish the connecticut River?

I usually have a few tournies a year on it either out of Hartford or the Salmon River.

I often fish coves off of the main river for Pike and sometimes stripers, but to fish the main river I'm gonna need a boat bigger than a canoe  ::)

Yup,  2 tourneys a year

The Glastonbury cove and Portland cove

If you don't care about your boat go north of Hartford for BIG smallies

I also striper fish from shore at the mouth of the Hockanum river and Scantic river

Why are you asking?

Do you want specific info?

Which tourneys do you fish Tin?

Wed night? club events? or a trail?

By Harford you mean Hartford, VT? I work in Hanover, NH sometimes and have heard stories from the locals about people catching stripers, and muskies as far north as the White River Junction. Is this true? Aren't there dams along that very very long long river?

I asked because, I keep hearing about people having good luck there...

I only fished it once and didn't have a lot of luck...

So any info is good info

I think he's talking about Hartford, CT.  There is a stretch of the river between Enfield and the dam that has some pretty good size smallies.  Not sure about below the dam above Hartford because I don't fish that far down, but heard it is a good place for stripers when they are running.

I think muskies are resident in the river up in White River Junction.  I wouldn't be surprised that stripers make it up that far.  They pretty much chase the herring up as far as they're willing to travel.  There are fish ladders at the major dams along the river.  In Massachusetts, there are two major dams in South Hadley and Turners (or Millers) Falls.  The river sure gets much nicer up your way.  Now there are some killer smallies up that end of the river.

Usually a club event and a trail event. North of Hartford is where I go too, just can't beat it.

Which trail?  CT outdoors?

I've never fished above the Enfield dam, I've heard that is really good too.   My buddy has a jet boat to navigate in Enfield.

Witch section of the river are you interested in? It makes a difference.

I fish the CT River in MA, but not in CT. The fishing in this river is excellent! What fish species are you interested in? There are stripers, shad (in the spring) smallmouth & largemouth bass, walleye, pike and just about anything that swims in freshwater in the northeast.
