Winter Fishing at Triadelphia

Featured Replies

Is anyone still fishing?  I went on Tuesday and Thursday last week.  I was fishing with a Zoom 4" Green Pumpkin on a shakeyhead.  On Thursday I got skunked, but on Tuesday I caught one chunk of a LMB (about 2lbs) and then, two or three casts later, something huge picked up my bait and started swimming off with it.  As soon as I set the hook my drag started singing and my rod almost bent double.  Unfortunately, I never saw the fish.  It pulled off and just kept on going >;)

Does anyone know what the water temp is right now?

I'm still fishing. I was out over the weekend on the upper Potomac looking for some smallie action. Unfortunately, both my partner and I got skunked. The Potomac was running at 36 degrees so I would guess that most other bodies of water would be somewhere close to that right now (unless you have a warm water inflow advantage).

Congrats on the 2 pounder! Sorry to hear about the big one! What ended up happening? Did the line break or did the hook straighten out? My guess would be it could have been a huge cat, maybe a big toothy critter. But my experience with them in these temperatures is the fight isn't anywhere near like it is in warmer temps and they tire out extremely quickly.

Yeah...I think it was the toothy variety too.  The hook just pulled out.  I brought it back in and checked the sharpness and everything seemed to be good.  Just didn't get a good hookset I guess.

I'm going to try tomorrow in the rain.  It is suppose to be close to 60 degreess, so maybe the fish will be feeding??

I am going out on Sunday if the ice thaws from the warm weather and rain.  Hope to catch one.

I'll go in January too if theres no ice melt.

Probably live and die by drop shot and senkos

Wow! That had to have been one heck of a beast! The musky that I've caught this time of year have been very lethargic and I've been able to land them in a short time on spinning tackle. Hopefully, you get another shot at that one and land her!

Good luck if you do make it out!
