I have no personal experience with Chadwick Pond but found this article about an ice fishing contest.

A 4.6, and a 4.5 pound bass were caught in the pond. So, yes, it appears you may be on to something.

Bugs.

That's an interesting thing about my favorite pond.  I did not have a single problem last year with gnats, mosquitos or no see ums.  Even on the sweaty days.

Come to think of it, the only bugs I saw last year were dragonflies.

There are bugs, because the flocks of swallows are feeding all day in the summer.  Between them and the fish, mosquitos and bugs that hatch in the water don't have a chance.

At night, the bats also do a tune on them.

Yea i dunno what it was... I just couldn't get comfortable they were all over me. (Surprised i lasted that long)

I was gonna try a new lake tomorrow but its gonna reach 90. Guess ill just wait till Wednesday when its in the 60's and relaxing.

I fish here regularly and have had great success. Here's a tip, stay deep and avoid the shorelines here. The shorelines are sandy and there is limited cover. I've caught numerous bass over 5+ lbs on jig-n-pigs and senkos. Stick to natural colors (black,black/blue,watermelonseed etc..) I also live approx 2 miles away so chances are you'll see me out there. Good Luck and tight lines!
