Best Overall Bass Lake in Ohio?

Featured Replies

I'm visiting my family in Columbus at the beginning of June and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction as to what lake might be good for numbers and quality of largemouth bass.  Anywhere within 3 hours is do-able.  Thanks ahead of time for your responses. :)

knox lake is a little north of columbus but is definitely worth the trip :)

kiser lake is also a good lake , no boats with motors allowed

Three hours from Columbus should get you anywhere in Ohio. Check out a Ohio fish & game mag it will rate most lakes in Ohio. I'm sure you will find many good lakes within 1 hour from Columbus.

You can catch some decent numbers and size in the river right downtown.

Lake Erie might just be the worlds best smallmouth bass fishery!!!

all top producing lakes in ohio are top secret. Sorry

Alum Creek Lake is very close to Columbus. It has Largemouth and Smallies in good size and numbers. You really should start there as it is definitely the best in the area. Google earth will show you it is very close to Columbus.

If you have a boat Lake Erie is amazing for the smallies. If not pick one of the thousands of ponds you see driving around and kindly ask to fish it. Chances are it has not been fished in over a decade and its loaded with nice bass.
