St Clair MI

Anyone been fishing Lake ST Clair?

I'm looking for some pointers and details.

Thanks

I was out there last week, smallies are on fire! launched at the 9mile ramp and shot up to 11 mile.

fish were located around 9-11fow don't be afraid of the murkier water.

as for tubes try different colors until you find the most productive one. i found that a strike king coffee tube in green pumpkin with pearl white belly worked best. i also shoved some megastrike into the tube and all around it.

lipless cranks were just yo-yo'd or slowly cranked.

Most guys around here use rapala shad raps in baby bass and silver/black because their body shapes resemble gobies which is the primary forage. some say dragging drop shots is even more effective then tubes but i haven't tried it yet.

gman i'll pm you a link to the local stclair forum. :) a couple of guys have reported 100+ fish days. I had 5 within a couple hours the biggest weighing 4.9lbs and none under 3lbs.   :D

the way those guys were gettin' 100+ fish days is they followed the school around, i floated over it and got a quick glimpse on the depth finder then all 3 of us on the boat had a fish on at the same time. by the time we landed all 3 we had lost the school.  :)

A buddy of mine from work says pack up on red colored lipless cranks. You shouldn't be having any problems catching some nice outs out there this month.May is prime time fishing for MI.

gman the 9 mile area is hot and a lot of the fish are coming on a widowmaker tube in a road kil copper and on smallie slayer
