If you could only get one shade of sunglasses, which shade and why?  I'm getting some made with my prescription and can only afford one pair.  thanks in advance for the help       del 8-)

you mean lens? amber, works the best for bass fishing, they use blue mirrored out in the ocean which works well.

Some form of amber.  My personal favorite is Costo Del Mar's Vermillion.  It's a tad darker shade of amber.

I would go with amber.

Look at a cloud-filled sky, then look again through a pair of amber sunglasses. You'll be surprised to see the hazy, bluish clouds jump suddenly into focus, revealing a world of unexpected detail.

I use Elton Optics Wraptors with my prescription and get the lense as dark as possible which is dark gray.
