Liberty Reservoir?

On halloween weekend me and my dad will be visiting my uncle who lives about 1 mile from the reservoir, but he hardly ever fishes. He wants to get into it so he picked up some decent combos and a jon boat that he repaired (He's contracted by the gov. basically for making things). So we're probably gonna take his boat out.

First things first, I just checked the depth contours for this lake on angling-technologies.com and d**n this lake is DEEEEPPPP!!! The average depth is 60 ft and at its deepest is 141 ft!!! :);) ;) :) :)

And from what I could tell, there is a huge main channel that goes where the lake does and the only real drop offs I could find were from like 60ft -100ft. Can you even bass fish that deep?? :o

Also though, there are ALOT of 10' flats, which I think would be awsome in the spawn with a c-rig, but what about these in the fall? Another thing that is concerning is that most of the shallower (0-30') water is on the OTHER side of the 3100 acre lake. Well, its an electric lake only and he only has a trolling motor and a battery. So it looks like we'll be fishing DEEP. At shallowest maybe 30'

I dont think DD cranks can down that far, can they?

Any help is appeciated,

Thanks  8-)

Dropshot or 3/4 oz football jig, assuming the fish are on or near the bottom. Locate the fish first and note the depth they are using, then pick baits.

Edit: Almost forgot, find the baitfish!

I think we have our work cut out for us because he doesnt have any electronics.

Lol just gonna be us 3, a bunch of poles and a aluminum boat haha.

In that case, look for baitfish flipping around on top or look for birds hanging around in a certain area. A large group of birds in an area is a good sign.

Check out your map and find some bassy looking spots that would be desirable for bass this time of year, pick a spot and start there. Since 3 of you will be fishing, I would suggest for all 3 of you to fish something different at different depths until you get bit.

Be sure to take some jigging spoons. You can fish jigging spoons at any depth effectively.

Post in the regional section for Maryland. You'll get some answers. There are guys there that are only in that section.

Get a contour map of the lake and/or the land around it.  The land above the water generally will mirror that below it.  Look for flats that drop off to the channel and fish c-rigged flukes or sluggos from teh flat to the drop off.  They'll sit out off the drop waiting for baitfish to come over the edge.

You can yo yo lipless cranks and/or spinnerbaits in the same areas and manners, hopping them towards the drop and then off.
