Fishing in Maine?

Featured Replies

We're potentially thinking about planning a trip to maine in the summer, any suggestions on places that have good fishing, but also stuff for the ladies to do?  They'll probably last an hour on the boat and then want to go shopping or do something else.  any ideas would be appreciated.

I like the Saco area for both fresh & salt water fishing. You have the river, shops, beach and your night life needs.

My humble opinion

My personal favorite is Sebago Lake, Casco Bay area. Big lake, great fishing, plenty to do. We usually spend 3 or 4 weekends per season up there, camping and fishing. One site we had, the boat ramp was 200 feet away.

Damariscotta is a pretty lake with good smallmouth and largemouth fishing. It is close to Pemiquid beach state park and Boothbay Harbor so that you can get the best of Coastal Maine for both you and your wife.

In the western Maine mountains there is Kezar Lake; also good fishing for both small and largemouth with mountain activities and nearby north conway NH for dining and shopping

If you want to please the ladies and have great fishing you better stay in southern Maine. If you wan't to get away from other tourist and boaters leave southern Maine and go Downeast or around the Bangor area, less traffic and great bass fishing.
