Pine Lake is my favorite of the Beech River Watersheds. Had a real good day there last June fishing shakey heads around the docks and boat houses. Had a 6lb+ fish break off on my trolling motor. He came off of a floating trampoline  :o

  • 2 weeks later...

i live in wayne county and went fishing in pickwick and the fishing was good. but id rather go to waterloo my uncle lives down there and he is a good bass guide.

we've been out on lake graham a few times and have caught a few fish up to 4lbs on crankbaits around the dropoff on the side of points. We got out on the Tennessee River at Perryville (technically KY Lake) and caught a few small bass around channel banks and just plain straight banks with some wood with live minnows and chrome/blue bandit crankbaits. I think we are heading up around New Johnsonville this weekend so I will be able to post more info if we do any good then. The river level is well up from normal right now I believe it is about 362 1/2ft above sea level and normal summer pool is about 360ft. But 362 is very high for right now because normally the dont start raising Ky Lake up to summer pool until around the first of April. That effected the fishing considerably last week. The Beech River watershed lakes are probably HOT right now. Beech, Pin Oak, Browns Creek, and Pine Lake usually produce lots of big bass this time of year so I would definitely consider trying them.

Two weekends ago our club held a tournament on the Beech River Watersheds. Our winning weight was 28.8!

This past weekend we held a tournament on KY Lake out of KenLake. My boat took 3rd with 15.3. Fished main channel banks that consisted of pea gravel. 1st and 2nd were won flipping bushes. Big fish of the tournament was 6.55.

I think we are gonna get out on Pin Oak tomorrow so I'll post a report if we do any good. As far as I know fishing has been really good on the points and around all the stumps and brush in the shallow arm across from the state park ramp. Tight lines to anyone heading out tomorrow :)

I cant fish big water my motor is not woking and cant afford to fix it,so i stay in small water for now.havent been out yet but plan to soon.thanks for the info.Bob

Exactly why me and my dad got insurance on our boat before we ever drove it. LOL

I really like the Beech Lakes.  We had a tourny there last Sun. and winning weight was 18 lbs.  It usually takes 20 or better in a sack to win out there.  I LOVE Glenn Springs and Gibson Co Lake.  Never been to Graham.  I fish Pickwick a good bit, but haven't been this year.  I spend about 3-4 days a week on Glenn Springs in the evenings after work.

Hope you don't mind if I add ya to my buddy list, maybe we can get together and go hit up the water sometime, I'm only about 30 minutes from Glenn Springs.

Anytime man.  I absolutely love Glenn Springs.  I took Skillet out there last year and we slayed em.  I spend probably 75-100 days a year on that lake.  I just about know every nook and cranny in that lake.

I saw the lake made, loved it for the first 2 or 3 year's, and now I can't stand it, so maybe you can change my mind.  I just never care for the crystal clear water.

I hear ya on the clear water.  I make really long casts to keep from getting right on top of the fish due to the really clear water with flukes and senkos and try to cover alot of water.  Actually, I catch 80% of my fish in 2-4 ft of water, year-round.  Even in the dead of summer.  I fish the thick grass and hardly ever leave it.  That helps with the clear water situation because the grass is so thick.

Extremely clear.  Visibility down 10-15 feet sometimes.

Me and a partner from the UT Martin Bass Team won the Gibson County Bass Club tournament yesterday. Partner caught a 10.12 toad to put us on top!

He's not exaggerating at all, either.  It's clear.  Even after a hard rain and heavy wind, I've hardly ever seen the water with much if any stain to it at all.

Way to go Bmadd.  I haven't been up to Gibson in awhile.  How's the water level situation?   What did you guys catch em on?

The water level is still low but there were lots of people putting in 20ft+ glass boats in without a problem. Only able to launch one boat at a time right now though. We caught all our fish on shallow crankbaits in 4-7 ft of water. Chartreuse/Black back and Red Craw colors.

Good deal!  May hafta run up there Sat. morning and fish.  Sounds identical to the pattern I have on the fish at Glenn Springs.  Thanks for the info, bmadd!

We have our club tournament there this weekend. I'll be there Saturday pre-fishing so keep a look out.

Cool.  Well, good luck.  Our bass club meeting is tomorrow and from what I've heard, alot of the guys are gonna vote Sardis or Horseshoe.  We'll fish on Sunday, so I may run up to Gibson Co. on Sat.

Nope. Changed the date to next Sunday at Sardis. Oughta be fun. Lake is supposed to rise 10 ft by Saturday and be at full summer pool. It's muddy as ever now and gonna get worse. Gonna be a long day.  Went to Glenn Springs instead and whacked em there again for the 4th day this week.  Been catching at least one 5 lb'er. on every trip out there this week.

I saw you, I think...fishing the creek at the end of the levee to the right side of the big point where the tree's start?  Then moving to the right even more past the little island?

Yep, that was me.  I fished that all day and 9 of my 13 fish came off that point.  I would come back to it every so often and pick a few more off.  The rest of the fish came off the levee.  The entrance to that cove has the levee on one side and that long grassy point that comes out all the way to the treeline.  I was fishing the windblown side of that point and flat with crankbaits and I'd catch 3 or 4 fish in just 3 or 4 casts.  Here's what came off that point and that whole general area.
