Just curious if there are any Bass fishing kayaks in the northern virginia area..  I know of some of you, but I was wondering if any of you have pics to share as well!  I will have some pics up this week of mine!

I kayak fish pretty often and have two buddies, SimonSays and a friend not on the forum, that fish with me often too.  Are you looking for rigging pictures or fishing pix? or both?

Both would be great!  I often see how Jon Boats are hooked up on this site, but not many kayaks..  Just want to see where this goes..

Funny thing, I haven't taken a pic of my yak fully loaded, I'll get one tomorrow!

here's a pic of a 1lb smallie I caught today and a little peak of the pedaling system Skip and I have.

Hey guys,

Here's a pic from my kayak. I've improved the rigging and will post a pic soon. I'd love to see how some of you're rigging.

Has anyone installed a anchor trolley?  I've been spinning in the wind and think a trolley will help out.

Rich, I've been thinking about getting the anchor trolley and a drift shute but haven't committed to getting one yet.

I'm going out this weekend with my girlfriend if you guys are interested in fishing the upper potomac.

What day are you planning on going and when?

I'm trying to juggle a few things so I can get optimal fishing this weekend and the U.P. is definitely one place I've been waiting to fish.

im planning on getting a kayak when i move back to the arlington area in spring. im looking into either the native ultimate or native manta ray. what kinds do you guys have?

thanks

Hobie Sport

I too have decided that a Kayak is the best option for me to get out on the water considering my lifestyle and the vehicles i currently own.  I have never used a Kayak before and dont realy know what options are available or what manufacturers are known for their quality.

I think I am stealing this post, let me do some more searching and I will post a new topic with some questions.  :P

Hey guys

If its ok with you guys I'd love to tag along on sunday. How's the water there. Calm or choppy?  Fast slow etc...  I've never been there.

really depends on the river and the rainfall it gets. the first time i was there the water was pretty calm and clear and the current wasn't too fast.  The last time though, the current was a lot faster and clarity was much worst.

This is going to be my part of my anniversary day with the girlfriend so I hope to "coincidentally" bump into you guys at the park. ::)

PM me for details.

I wish I could go!

Just mounted the fishfinder today...it's scary drilling a 1in hole in your yak...  :o

I see you're using the folding chair technique ;D

Lol yep, thanks for that idea, works like a charm!

I have a Native Watercraft Ultimate 12. I love the boat. I have it rigged with Scotty rod holders aft, Humminbird Piranha 220 FF with a thru hull mount on the transducer and an anchor trolley with a 1.5 lb anchor and 1 ft of chain (going to go to 2 ft).

They sell the boat with an angler package that includes the rod holders, anchor kit and the anchor trolley but I added them myself over time.

The boat has mojo!

I have a LLBean Manatee you can see in my post image.  Going to upgrade next year to a true fishing yak.  I added two flush mount rod holders in the back, a scotty in front and today I just added an anchor trolley.  I have a fish finder on order.  I also installed a pulley system in my garage to hang my yak.

Paul, nice enhancer.  Why do you use chain on your anchor and why is 2ft better than 1ft?

About Sunday, I am still working on the weekend schedule and will PM if I can meet up.

Humminbird Piranha 220 FF with a thru hull mount on the transducer

Heya Paul, what method did you use for the through hull mount?

Rich, the chain helps the anchor dig better by putting weight ahead of it and keeping it in the right position.

Simon, I used marine goop to secure a piece of foam to the hull. The foam is cut out to hold the transducer and I used clear silicone to fix the transducer to the hull. If you use this method you need to be sure there are no bubbles in the silicone.

Ahh I see, I'm in the process of trying the PVC cup of water version...alot  more trouble than I had imagined.

edit: i just poured a bit of water in it this morning....it failed miserably
