  1. It is shallow, but hey bass love shallow. And there are tons of lilly pads when the weather warms, and they are fun to fish with a frog or some such
  2. I'm in VA Beach, not too far down the road. Although I do normally stay on the south side. If ever down here let me know
  3. sounds good man, being from cali (the land of light line and finesse presentation) plastics are what I learned to fish on. glad to here you had a good day on the water. keep up the good work, good luck
  4. The feeder creeks that run into Back Bay produce pretty well, I fish them in my kayak quite a bit. The Northern part of the bay is where I have done the best, but I've only lived here a year so who knows. I do know that the grass is making a come back and that the fish and game guys just released a bunch of bass into the bay so lets hope things start taking off.
  5. I fish all up and down the north landing from my kayak. I moved to the area last year and am still getting to know the water, but I can tell you that the river is pretty shallow(no prob for a kayak) and the best luck I have had is fishing soft plastics in the cypress knees.
  6. I had a couple of hours before I had to go to work this afternoon and decided to take a quick trip to my local honey hole. There is a storm front moving in so it was warm, cloudy, and windy. I had one monster of a fish shake the hook on a shakey head, and then caught this nice fish on my topwater fave a silver and black chug bug.
  7. Finally after a long winte,r a bass. Not a beast by any means, but a bass none the less. My wife and I both had the day off today, and she decided she wanted to try and go fishing with me. We went to a local pond and I caught this little bass on a wacky rigged senko. my wife hooked into her first bass ever, she did a pretty good job of fighting him but he shook the hook on her. by the time we were ready to head out and get some grub she was the one who kept saying "one more cast". that alone made it a awesome day.
  8. Please PM me and I will give you a link to a site that lists plenty of tournaments in the southeast virginia area, and have links to other club sites in the area. its a good site with lots of good info
  9. VA Beach as you can see. I'm kinda new to the area, been here for about 1/2 a year now. I fish all the lakes and rivers in the area(a lot in suffolk) and spend quite a bit of time pond hopping as well. I fish from a yak.

  13. 1. Senko(texas or wacky either way it slays um) 2. 1/8 spot remover pro jighead w/ 4in aarons magic roboworm 3. Chug Bug 4. Spook 5. Zoom trick worm
  14. I've caught ducks, turtles, a seagull, and a bat on a topwater once. But the funniest by far was a glove that I caught by ( you guessed it) the middle finger, it was hilarious. my brother and I laughed for a good ten minutes.
  15. Best I fight I everhad was yesterday believe it or not. I was fishing for LMBs at a local lake that runs buy some houses. I had caught 5 or 6 bass in about an hour and was having a great time. The fish came on a combo of a 1/8oz spot remover w/ a 4" roboworm and a 3/8 oz chug bug. I saw a big swirl and chucked the chug bug out after a few feet it got engulfed and i almost crapped myself at the sight of the fish. I had on 12lb floro which in most cases would be pleanty. After about 10 min and a few awesome runs I landed about a 17- 20 lb striper. and of course didnt have my camera, but it was a great even so. P.S hey steven this is joe from east lake but i live in virginia beach now, just thought I'd say hi
  16. ps sorry about the crappy pics I only had my cellphone
  17. caught this fat girl tonight at the same pond. the wind was howling and I only had a few minutes before I had to pick up dinner, but managed this beauty on a popper again. I love the fall

  19. Went out to beat the banks this evening after work for about an hour in hopes of catching a few topwater bass. I was not disappointed. The weather this week has just been great, nice and cool finaly. I caught these 4 fish on a silver and black chug bug, nothing beats a nice topwater bite
  20. Went out to Lake Prince in Suffolk today and had a great morning. The kayak makes it nice not having to wait in line at the ramp to launch. It was cloudyand cool for most of the morning which was a nice change of pace. Caught 4 fish and on grn pkn senkos, all in all it was beautiful morning. here is a pic of the lake and 2 of the decent fish
  21. Well I just moved out here to Virginia Beach last month from San Diego, and have been dying to get a new Kayak. So last week I went down to a local shop and bought a Manta Ray 12. I've been out about 4 times and am loving it. I've managed to catch a few fish on each outing but my cameras batteries were dead. I finaly got some new batteries and went out today, and of course caught no fish worth photographing. but i did take a pic of my boat and a family of otters I saw playing in the river. I was pretty cool. I there is any one in the area who would like to go out fishing just let me know, I'd be glad to learn from a local.
  22. I just got a manta ray 12 and am loving it
  23. Hey guys I live in VA Beach(just moved out here from San Diego) and was wondering if there were any yak fisherman out here in SoVA. I would love to head out with someone that knows the area a bit. BTW i just got a new manta ray 12 and am loving it
  24. Hey Guys I'm From San Diego as my name denotes, but I just got married and am moving out to VA Beach this week. My mom lived in Suffolk when I was a kid so I know the area a little bit, but any help or friendly faces would be appreciated. I am a bit spoiled with the size of the bass out here but am super stoked about all the fishable water out that way. Here there are some great bodies of water but they are few and far between, but out there you guys have more lakes, creeks, and rivers than you can shake a stick at. Well I just thought I would introduce myself and say hi to yall here in the southeast division. Youll be seeing more of me shortly
  25. lakes are plenty available but ponds are all OVER the place and a ton of fun to fish
