Rockfish on the Potomac

Featured Replies

How for north has anyone landed a rockfish?

The rockfish/strippers run all the way up into the Occoquan River and the Belmont Bay area. That is as far north as I have caught them.   This area is the Woodbridge, VA.

Above DC about 1 mile above fletcher's boathouse.

ive caught some nice ones under the bridge up river from georgetown. i think its the 123 bridge? you make a left after the bridge and the parking is right there on your left and you have to hike a little ways down the canal path and then left towards the river. ive been there about 4 times and only caught stripers the first time. huge catfish though. strong current.

EDIT: chain bridge. thats where it is.

A friend and his son caught a whooper under the Chain Bridge I think it was 2 years ago. I did'nt believe his son (6 yrs old, going "it was this big!") until I looked at the picture..........
