I currently live in NY, but will be relocating to the Chattanooga area.  I have a question.....Here we have the Finger Lakes which is five natural lakes, not connected by a river, with all having the same "bowl shaped" contours and weedline.  Once you figure out one of these lakes, you can transfer what your doing there to the other 4 bodies of water.

I was wondering if this is similar to the Tenn River Impoundments (Chick, Pickwick, Nickajack etc.).  For instance if I fish Chick will the other lakes be on a similar bite or is there a huge difference between these bodies of water?  If so, can you touch on some of the differences?

Current trumps all other factors in the river reservoirs. When you

have constant water release, the fishing is usually good regardless

of the weather.

To answer your question: Yes, the lakes show alot of similarities.  To add another point, if you like the New York Finger Lakes, there are the "Finger Lakes of the Smokies"  on the Little Tennessee River from below Fontanna Dam all the way to Tellico. Cheowah, Calderwood,  and a couple others.  If you're i north Chatanooga, it's not a drive and teh scenery and fishing's well worth it.

The Chattanooga Bass Association was involved in adding Florida Strain bass fingerlings to Chickamauga for several years. Now Chickamauga is an AWESOME fishery. Last year in a large local tournament it took 33 lbs. to win 1st place with a 5 fish limit. That is a sack of fish! Guntersville is good also but not that good.
