lake jessup

Featured Replies

i have a friend who is going to lake jessup this weekend and i told him i would do some recon. other than having a ton of gators, where do you fish? baits? any help would be great.

I have always heard that Jessup is a bass black hole. We used to run tournaments out of the ramp right off of 46 under the bridge and there wasn't one boat in our tx that ever ventured into Lake Jessup. I would suggest either going to Lake Harney or Lake Monroe and skip Jessup. There is supposed to be a very good bluegill and crappie population in the lake though. I really don't know why there aren't very many bass in Jessup. It is also a big and fairly shallow lake.

Lake Jesup is best noted for its alligators and sunfish.

Actually, it's recognized as having the largest population of alligators in the world.

During 2002, electroshocking in Jesup produced the largest sunfish in Florida.

For largemouth bass though, it's Lake Monroe and the St John's River north of Sanford.

Never fished Jessup. Fished the river a ton when i lived there but never jessup. If you want to be adventurous run S from 46 into puzzle and beyond. Awesome fishing down there....i have no idea what the water is like right now......but have fun finding the channel. haha
