Kentucky Lake Or Lake Barkley

Featured Replies

I went to Lake Barkley a few weeks ago & the fishing was pretty good in a certain area. I'm thinking about heading to Kentucky Lake which ive never been to. Any cons of Kentucky Lake?

Only cons are if you have a north or south wind over 10, other than that the fishing is still hot.

We have several members from the area that fish both lakes.

W#hen they see you post, they will give you some specific

recommendations.

Otherwise, I have fished both lakes and don't find them noticeably

different. Since the lakes are a part of two different river systems,

water clarity, pool maintenance and release varies.

X2

The wind plays a big role in being able to fish open water as well as your trolling motor to try and stay on those m. beds or drop offs. Bowfish12's boat 17ft alum, and my fiberglass bass boat 14.5ft with 36lbs thrust and 43lb thrust is hard enough at times. Bigger boats and more powerful trolling motors do not seem to have as hard of a time as we do.
