Jig that "rattles"???

Featured Replies

Anyone know of a good jig that "rattles"? or do they all mostly rattle?  I saw one on a show, but can't remember the name... "pro" something... Anyone know?  Also, should I even be using one that rattles in clear water? or is it mainly a murky water thing?

As you can tell I am new to jigging... Also, what are a few good trailers?  I have been told to use crawdad looking ones... good?

Lunker Lure Rattle Back Jigs or Strike King Pro Model

I very rarely us a jig with rattles regardless of water clarity   :)

yea i agree the strike king pro model has a very good rattle on it   just remember to sharpen the hook point on them

I don't use rattles.  Most of our lakes have 4' clarity or more.

When One gets mudded up though I just use a larger black jig

if u r fishing in clear water i don't think it is necessary to use a rattle, unless u r fishing ultra deep or fishing at night.  in clear water i prefer a smaller profile jig.  u don't need to draw any exra attention to your jig.  in clear water i like to throw a jig that blends in with the bottom. green pumpkins, and browns. my favorite jig to throw is a booya boo bug with a zoom salty chunk

No rattles for me, ever.  I've tried rattle jigs in the past and can't ever remember them making a positive difference.  Negative for me if anything.

Guide nights, and been with many non believers. I always fish rattle jigs and sometimes clients don't, they will chg. quickly due to bite percentages and be glad they did before the night is done. They become firm believers. I am sure this translates to day fishing as well just like many members have posted. It is also my opinion that in clear water they are not very important unless deep or cloudy or thick mat vegetation. See a couple of my pictures on chunk product page      Bend a rod.
