Heard a rumor today at the Ashland BPS that one guy fishing out of the Americamps tournament caught a 10-pound LMB this past Saturday.

Anyone know about this?????  :)

I would like to hear more about that and possibly see a picture.

Wouldn't surprise me that much. There was a 10+ caught from somewhere near Loudoun County last year.

wouldnt surprise me either, gaston is an impressive fishery

wow if this is even remotely true i will have to give gaston a shot when the boat is done.

Thanks, Redskins.

I hate when rumors like this get started.

My friend at BPS told me that there was a run on the type of bait used to catch the 10-pounder.

I will keep eyes and ears open just in case I hear any other news of this catch.  :)

So, what was "The Lure"?

This is the closest thing I can think of.  My club was out there and one of our guys prefishing on Wed caught this 7+.  I believe it was a spinner or a trap for the bait, but I don't remember.  I know it was on the sun side of a dock in 60* water on the north end of Pea Hill Creek.

It wouldnt surprise me, When I fished the Jr Southern Divisional there last year I believe someone in the adult divisional caught one weighing upwards of 9lbs. So a 10 probably isn't out of the question

yea never heard that about this weekend... but i have caught a few 7s down there so i wouldn't imagine a 10 being too far fetched... it can be a tremendous fishery it the spring

The 2009 citation report posted by the D.G.I.F. only shows 10 citations coming fron Gaston. A citation is 22 or 8 pounds. No ten pounders were recorded. Of course not everyone reports citations myself included, but those are not impressive numbers for a lake of that size. If you are trophy hunting I would not bank on Gaston. I know alot of people love to fish it and catch a ton of fish under five pounds but it is what it is. I am sure there are double digit fish in the lake but........
