A small group of us will be there next week, fishing 5/1 to 5/8 launching from the Paris Marina.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, no detail too small.

Thanks for the PM's I have received already.

Rumor has it, Pickwick Dam is holding all water

and the TVA is draining Kentucky Lake. They

hope to complete the project on or before

Saturday, May 1, 2010.

Prior to drainage, Rotenone will be released to

kill all fish and flush them out of the river system.

You may still find a few floaters, so be sure to

bring your nets.

::)

We had a tourney there this past weekend.  We caught tons of fish, just not much size.  Water wasn't quite at summer pool just yet.  Usually gets there about May 1st.  We usually fish our club tourney the 1st weekend of May every year, but got pushed back a weekend this year to the last weekend of April.  When we usually fish, the water is up in the buckbrush and the predominant pattern is pitching and flipping the bushes.  Bushes were only in a ft of water or so on Friday and Saturday.  We fished offshore on secondary drops, roadbeds, and humps in the mouths of creeks and caught 50 fish a day.  Saturday, we had a ton of rain and severe weather roll through and the lake rose almost 2 feet and we did catch quite a few fish shallow around buckbrush with spinnerbaits and T-rigged Rage Craws, but majority were still hanging in the mouths of the creeks.  You guys may be hitting it just right as this week is usually prime for us every year.  Most of our fish came on 1/2 and 3/4 oz football jigs with Rage Craw trailers and C-rigged lizards with Rage Lizards.  BFL fished out of Paris this past weekend also and it took 18 lbs to win.  We talked with a couple of our buddies who fished it and one finished 7th in co-angler side and they were on same pattern we were.  Fish are moving shallower everyday though it seems as the lake nears Summer Pool which should be May 1st.  We fished mostly Creeks South of Paris in Standing Rock, Lick and Leatherwood.  Bennett's usually has some good fish also.  We did go North though, and did well in the grass in Panther Creek.

May your days be filled with backlashes and catfish...

You should hit it right, assuming TVA doesn't mess with the water like they did in April.

Also, May 8 there is a big tournament out of paris landing.  You might want to try a different ramp or get there at 3 am to put in. ;)

May 8th shouldn't be a big deal.

We will be leaving sometime that day, maybe we can hit a launch further up the lake.

Do you think there is any potential topwater action going on next week?

Supposedly the guy that won the bfl saturday was fishing topwater.  Now I don't know how accurate that is since the storm come through and it was pretty rough on barkley where I was at.  He could have caught those fish before it came between 6 and 9.

There is a good chance though, he said he caught them in big sandy.

That's true.  He caught them on a Zara spook.  I also heard he ran down towards New Johnsonville as well to catch some of his fish.

We caught several on buzzbaits in the rain as well as a weightelss fluke worked real fast just under the surface.  A guy in our club caught some of his fish on a spook as well.
