Bad Winter, Need Coaching

Featured Replies

I have been busy with work and haven't had a chance to really get out on the water. I've pretty much been blanked whenever I have. I'm used to shallow water fishing and that doesn't cut it on the big reservoirs I've been going to, especially during the winter. I've tried reading the articles on here, but it hasn't paid dividends yet.

If anyone would like to get out on the boat so I can absorb some of your knowledge (or have company in getting skunked), I would greatly appreciate it. Let me know!

i cant get out on the water with you but i can try and help.  If you have a lake near by that has a powerplant on it which discharges heated water then id start there.  You will be able to fish more like it was warmer conditions on these heated lakes.  If not then try fishing steap slopes near the shore, such as a channel bend right against the shore.  These drops allow the bass to move verticly to do things.

Thanks for the help. I'll try to locate a few places like that to give it a go.

On Allatoona or Carter's look for the rock bluff walls. The ones facing east heat up faster. I use a Zoom finesse or 4" squirrel tail on a jig head fished painfully slow. Your cast should take several minutes to get back to the boat. Just don't wear any of that tacky Ga Tech apparel. These fish prefer red and black.

Mostly Allatoona and Lanier, but if you know any better spots feel free to share.
