Indian/ Banana River Lagoon?
Never fished up there, but further south in the Indian River I have success throwing mirrolures around sandy openings in the grass flats.

What Fish Are These?
Not so sure on the first one. Likely a white grunt, maybe dog snapper. Hard to tell on my phone. Second one is a red snapper. Pointy anal fin is the giveaway.

A Few Good Fish From Panama City Beach
Oh wait, fishing. Yea, nice catches and I agree, sure would be nice to have mahi fishing in Atlanta.

Copperheads In Bass' Mouths???
I've seen copperheads and rattlesnakes swim. No, I'm not crazy enough to use a real one as bait much less a live one. The number is not correct, though, I am sure.

Cabo Fishing Report * Now 7 Videos Added
I have always preferred fighting from stand-up gear myself. Landed one pacific sailfish from the chair at the mate's insistence, asked for the belt after that.

High Pain Threshhold
Sounds like you need some beach fishing before you hit the piers. That'll help stretch out the back.

Fishing The Bahamas
Recently, my wife and I spent our spring break in the Abacos. We caught a few random "trash" fish. Caught a lot that were the wrong species of grouper (nassau grouper are engangered and were released) or weren't the right size snapper. but we eventually dialed it in.and got some keeper mutton and mangrove snapper as well as helped clear out the lionfish population... Overall, good times were had and we only HAD to fish for about 10 minutes a day to secure dinner for our trip....the extra time spent was a nice reprieve from our other activities. A highly recommended destination from me.

Basic Salt Water Set Up
I feel like we should just have a sticky on this forum for sirsnook's rod and reel setup advice. My personal recommendations for the best all purpose combo: Penn Fierce 5000 with a rod to match 20# braid, leader depends on target species Recommended lures: Mirrolure Mirrolure Spoon Mirrolure This setup will catch ANYTHING you come across. You might be a bit overpowered for small jacks, but I have caught large tarpon and sharks with this setup.

Key West Fishing
There aren't. Don't. If you're going the charter route, you'll be fished out as that's a pretty good time of year. Enjoy the plethora of bars to drink the soreness away.

Goliath Grouper???
Looks, to me, to be around 100-150 lbs. Back then, that probably fed the family for a while. I hear they're good eating. Now illegal to harvest of course, though I personally think there should be limited harvest as they tend to take over certain reefs.

Have You Fallen In The Water By Mistake=Boat Or Shore
Never from a boat bass fishing. I've had a few slipped on the bank up to my ankles incidents, but nothing noteworthy. Once kayak fishing off the beach for tarpon. Forgot my drag was on and made the choice to go in instead of flip the kayak. Managed to grab the kayak as the tarpon pulled me for a good while in the water. Sailing, I've sank a boat which kind of counts and capsized hundreds of times (mostly for fun/training). When I'm docking my sailboat, I have to dump the right amount of speed as I come into the dock scurry past the mast and forestay then time my jump onto the dock with bowline in hand... In a small boat pretty much any of those steps can and have put me in the water at some point or another.

Redfish/seatrout/snook Thread
All you need is mirrolures...vary the size/color, but mirrolure works well for both fish. Try to find the sand to grass transition.

Your Biggest Catch Of Another Species?
- The Greatest Finish In All Of Sports
I'm a big fan of the ending of the Tech-Georgia game yesterday. 4th quarter starts tied 14-14 UGA kicks FG to make it 17-14 GT drives to make it 21-17 with ~4 min left GT recovers squib kick at the UGA 30, seem sure to win UGA recovers fumble, drives and takes the lead with 0:18 left in the game GT gets enough yards to kick a 53 yard field goal as time expires to send it to OT GT scores in the first period of OT, but the PAT is blocked GT intercepts a pass to end it.- Do You Have The Career You Wanted As A Kid/teenager?
I wanted to be an engineer, became an engineer. Not the field I was intending to go into, though. It's still early in my career, though, so I may still transition.- Never Been So Frustrated
This is exactly what's happening. It's happened to me before more than once. Mullet so thick the fish can't even see your lure. Best chance during times like that is to anticipate when a fish is going to crash a school and try to cast into its wide open mouth.- Snake In My House
I've seen a water moccasin go under an exterior door without slowing down because the weather strip was worn out. I'd call a pest control service to give the house a once over for things like that. Sounds like it was trying to den up.- Asking For A Raise
Raises should be brought up during your annual performance review and worked into the annual budget. Keep a record of your successes and try to gain an understanding of how you fit into the company's financial model in order to build a business case for your appropriate compensation. For example, does the company bill fixed fee or t&m? If t&m, what is your FSM vs the company budget? If fixed fee, what is your typical performance related to the project budget man-hours? How does the quality of your work relate to the company average? Re-work costs time and materials and if you have a 97% quality rating vs the company rating of 95% that can mean a lot of contribution to the bottom line in the long run. All of this should play out in annual reviews, don't get ahead of yourself and don't think you're above the economics of the company model.- Daughters Real Dad Is Back
Honestly, I would just walk away. Life is too short for the drama. Let your lawyer get you the kids and let the deadbeat and the migrant worker go back to whatever ****-hole they want and live your life. You'll be better off for it. I know it sounds harsh, but you owe nothing to their kid, so don't get too invested in the court's decision on that one.- Fishing In The Keys?
A mirrolure jerk bait is your best bet for general catch. You'll have to cull through the jacks to get to the snook.- Bear Scare
yea, mama bears are crazy. I saw a cub on the shore of a lake (Allatoona) while out sailing one time and followed it around the point into a cove that was protected from the wind. BAD IDEA!!! mama's swimming towards me, I'm trying to find enough wind to get out of there or at least turn the boat enough so I'm not going towards the dang thing, eventually abandon ship and had to swim a mile back across the lake. Went and got the boat later in the day with something with a motor. Glad your SIL is ok.- New Ga State Record Brown Troug
This was north of Atlanta. That stretch of Chattahoochee from north of 75 to lanier is pretty prime water in my opinion. Maybe the Toccoa would be the more likely candidate in some minds, but I am not surprised it was from the Hooch.- Fishing In Florida
Be willing to pay for a charter, upwards of $1000 a day for a private charter for dolphin/swordfish. Remember, it's fishing not catching and there's no guarantee you even catch anything especially swordfishing. A couple of the ones I've used or know the guys running: http://www.stuart-florida-fishing.com/ http://stuartflfishingcharters.com/ http://www.palmbeachfishingcharters.biz/ Might be worth making it a complete trip down in the keys if you want swords. Also, closer to a guarantee for dolphin there.- Favorite Species Besides Bass
I don't think there is anything that fights quite like a big bull dolphin aka mahi aka dorado. Though I will say the longest/hardest fight I ever had may have been the roosterfish that broke the drag on the reel, so I had to use my thumb on the spinning reel like I was fly fishing.- Deep Sea Fishing
