Pickwick Rising

How'd the tourney go? I can imagine the bite was tough. I know tournaments at Pickwick are almost always won deep, but the lake is in such a flux right now. Did anyone figure em out today? I'd like to hear what they did.

We had a tourney out of Waterloo.  1st place was 18lbs, 2nd was 14 lbs, 3rd was 12.88 and I finished 4th with 12.50.  Our tourney pays top 3 places if we have 18 boats or more.

Day late and a dollar short is the story of my life.  Had an awesome time on the water though.  All of my fish came from a main river point from 4ft to 15ft of water.  Water temp started about 57 and warmed up to about 61.

The bite shut down after 10 oclock for me.  That is about when the sun poked out and stayed.

Can someone tell me what the Pickwick tailwaters doing? I come down there every year at the end of March for white bass and anything else that will hit a crankbait. I stay at the Botel and was wondering what to expect.

The best spot on the entire river is behind Diamond Island.

You have to search around a little for the exact spots, but

once you find one, anchor down and fish until your arms wear

out!

The river channel runs to the left, a lesser channel to the

right. Gravel and sand are deposited behind the island and

continuously shifts. The white bass prefer certain spots which

you have to find. Once you find the spot, anchor down and

fish until your arms fall off!

Thank you roadwarrior, I can't wait to get there and get the bottom of my boat wet!! first trip of the year!! I would love to hook into one of those brown fish you are holding!! those are very nice!!!

I hope they have the water settled down before the next time i go.  We camped the weekend of the 18th on a gravel bar not far from jp coleman.  Caught around 60 catfish that weekend.  Only managed a few bass 3 i think for the weekend.  They just werent biting and i think the water levels had alot to do with it.  Saturday night we parked the boat and tied it off on the bank.  Only to wake up sunday morning to find the boat sitting on land completely. looked like they dropped the water over a foot over night.  Definately was not fun working the boat back in the water with the paddles :D
