GYCB Flappin' Hog

Featured Replies

Hello all. I am interested in learning more about GYCB Flappin' Hog. How does the weight compare to Senkos and Kreatures? Can it be fished weightless? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

The flappin hog is my FAVORITE lure.  I've caught more fish over 5 pounds with it than anything else.  I caught my first 10 pounder on it.

Texas rig it with a wide gap 3/0 or 4/0 hook, and the weight will depend on the wind.  Use the smallest weight you can use and still have a good feel for the bottom.  I usually use a 3/16 or 1/4 bullet weight.

I wouldn't advise using it weightless but its also deadly on a carolina rig.

This thing has great action when hopped slowly across the bottom.  I usually use the following pattern, or something similar- hop hop, count to 10, hop hop hop, count to 15, hop, count to 5, hop hop, etc...

I hope you're using heavy line! Hold on!

It is currently my favorite jig trailer. I use them a lot on an Eakins jig. I have several bags of every color made. Since I have started using them, the fish are very reluctant to let go of the jig. A big thumbs up from me.

I have been using the Flappin' Hog exclusively as a jig trailer.

The "action" is subtle, but the size creates a large profile and

the texture encourages bass to hold on!

Tremendous jig trailer indeed.. A killer in watermelon.

I also use it texas rigged for pitching and flipping wood cover.

I just wish it had a bit longer body.

Also, I was positively suprised with its resistance. Knowing GYCB, I thought he would tear apart way more easily than it actually does (still a bit fragile though, but hey that's a yamamoto).

I also use it on a weird rig called either Okeechobee rig or Sasuteki (Japan). Sort of an upside down texas rig..... works ok ! It will only tear the kreature apart twice as fast  ;D

I also am a HUGE fan of the Flappin' Hog.

There isn't much I can add that the guys before me didn't

already say.

IT ROCKS!!!!!
