It's about time! NEW PB! (13lbs3oz)
Bravo Bravo 8-) Man ! Such a lunker on a jig N' Pig .... you accomplished my dream Just a question, that behemoth seems to have pretty damaged fins.... especially the tail. It seems to be cut and the cut is pretty clean. I'm pretty sure there is no longer bedding bass in faraway California. Do you think this could be someone marking the fish he catches. I'm asking that because some trophy hunters here in Europe do that on big carps, and pikes. I do think it's pretty lame...... I hope nobody does that to your beautiful bass. That would be a pity. Splendid bass anyway !

Snob???
Sure I've already seen all your vids ... and they rock ! Now I was just kidding, I happen to fish with big baits too .... only, not most of the time ! I know physical condition can't be an excuse, but that's the only one I could manage ;D And I'll bet that flipping is way more stressfull for the muscles than swimbait fishing. BTW, I don't think you're a snob ! It's just like a new type of satisfaction. I, for one, hate the idea of getting skunked..... even for a big fish every now and then. I just love those little "pic pic" in the rod.

pitchin'/skippin' docks
If you're looking for baits that skip especially well give those a try : Live Magic Shad (or javallon alike) Flippin' Tubes Deps deathadder (perfect as jig trailer) Fat Ika Senko (and alike) Of course, with some exercice you can skip pretty much everything. But there's a simple rule..... the straighter the bait, the better it skips. Avoid softbaits that have too many appendages.....

Taking Bets: Who's gonna be the first to buy this?
Yop that has to be the worst looking bait of 2008 ! Scientist and artist doesn't seem to match. I'm pretty sure I'll never buy that. How do you tie the lure to your line anyway ?

Snob???
Bravo for new-found addiction ! How many rods dead by now ? As for the swimbait stuff, I gotta say I'm not much into it ... a lot of my fishing buddies are though. I'm still catching as many fish as them too, and most of time same sized. Plus those big stuff are too heavy for me to throw ;D My little badminton-player class body doesn't allow for such a violent sport as swimbait fishing How are you swimbait creations going ?

A Swimbait in the Making--FINISHED
Very good ...... that's not real-TV... that's real tackle making step-by-step ! Very interesting ! Nice color by theway. Let's hope it holds up to your expectations as far as fishability goes. BTW, I still believe weighing the head more plays an important role in the S motion. I know those LC below are not the most durable bait out there, but I believe their S motion is not far from perfect. Notice how the heads are weighed a little more than the rest. Also notice the horizontal position of the front eyelet... interesting. Just my two cents ! Oh and congratulations, you really work fast. I mean the swimbait I showed you at the beginning of this year still hasn't got a paintjob... no time !

A Swimbait in the Making--FINISHED
Hi Dave, I feel your pain concerning those dremel extra tools !! Those made out of tungsten are freaking expensive ! Anyway, I think your ballast weights are still not enough. Plus they look like steel balls ? In case there are steel, you should consider replacing them with lead. I also think you should put more weight in the head-section. I understand you want to make a S-line motion swimbait without a lip. And I think in this type of bait, it's actually the head which impart the S motion. And the head hast to be the heaviest section. I second AvalonJohn on the rust point ! These stuff rust like crazy....... And Stainless Stell ..... Well even my leatherman tool rust so ;D, I thought it was the best stainless steel under the sun.

A Swimbait in the Making--FINISHED
very very nice ! I have no idea how this little chain stuff is gonna hold up though. Oh, and maybe you should consider adding weight. But very nice details on that thing. Looks like you still love that sand-papper roll on the dremel

Another Nice Smallie (very dark coloring)
Very nice picture, the bass looks huge on it ! And I , too, love the color on this fish.

Landed my first decent smallie this weekend
Very nice catch !

2nd fish, 2nd broken rod- A swimbait-er is born, DAY 2
Nice fish and nice footage as well ! Congratulation on your new style of fishing.... but are you sure you want to continue swimbait fishing If I am not mistaken, that's one swimbait rod for every fish ..... a 1 to 1 ratio ! That is going to be expensive ;D. BTW, carving your own swimbait seems to be a good idea to save a few bucks .... how about custom rods ? A LBH Swimbait stick ! I love the name

Fishing the thick stuff
depends on what your rod can handle and how thick the stuff you're fishing really is. I would say 40-50lbs braided line.
-
Favorite Jig setup?
For heavy cover flipping : Daiwa TD Light & Tough Flippin Length: 7' 6 Shimano Metanium MG 40-45lbs braid For pitching/skipping jigs I use Kistler LTA MH 6'6 Length: 6' 6" Shimano Metanium MG 20lbs Floroclear Pline Jig : Lucky Craft Arky Jig 3/8 Black and Purple Black and Brown Black Trailer Zoom Super Chunk or GYCB Flappin' Hog Of course I use other jig/trailer setups as well as other rod/reel setups, but those are my favorites.

Ontario Bass Opener!!!!
geeee ... that's a short one ! Why in the world don't they let it open 'till the start of bass spawn ? I guess I could not live in Ontario .... or maybe just in the fall for the colors. Are you far from the US border, you could as well go and fish in the US when it's closed in Canada...... Oh Canada,
-
MN Bassers
No honnestly, MN is great for that ! Always some water nearby. But you just never know where you want to go fishing, and 20 life wouldn't be enough to master all the lakes in 4 counties ;D
-
Ontario Bass Opener!!!!
Ok ! How long is you season by the way ? Like, when does it close ?
-
MN Bassers
No such thing! 8-) Oh yes ! First time I went fishing for bass in MN, we went out with the boat. We launched on one lake. At some point my host decided that the lake sucked that day. So he told me we were going to launch on a different one. We basically put the boat back on the trailer, started the truch, crossed the road and we re-launched. ;D The lakes were like 100 yards apart and they were very very different from each other. So yes, too many lakes in "Miny-Soda" .... everytime I try to locate the lakes I know on Google Earth, I get lost

Ontario Bass Opener!!!!
Nice bass ! But having to wait 'till July to be able to fish for bass,..... man, that has to suck ! I pity you, but congrats for those bass.
