  1. yop... welcome Mercury ! Big name ! I guess it's good for BR, and it is very good for Merc., that's for sure. Thx
  2. Welcome Mike !
  3. Well .... send it my way ! I'll be sure to fish it on 25lbs mono with a titanium leader. We do have pikes swimming around her. And if one should manage to cut the line anyway, I'll go right after him into the water.
  4. Yop ... please still count me in as one of the newer guys. I'll be glad to show this little bait to french bass
  5. Hi Dave, As for the bag, God knows I'm not carp fishermen's best friend, but I have to admit that the bags they use for keeping and weighting fish are very good at not damaging the fish's coating. You'll find them in every online carp tackle shop. I actually had this digital scale from berkley, and the one thing I didn't like about it, was that the head would not rotate. Apart from that, it's a great product. But I think a rotating head is what makes the Boga grip a very good tool .... and an expensive one too. : The digital scale was a good product with normal-sized bass (I've never caught a 10pounder)... I don't know how it would fair with a 12 or 15 lbs bass (though I guess you won't see that many double-digit bass in the beautiful Chesapeake State.... but you'll sure find big stripers). From my personal experience with pikes (we have big ones), it really hurts the bigger fish. Take a look at this picture : http://www.casimages.com/img/jpg/0710060724161352265.jpg and zoom in on the pike's lower jaw. (it's not me on the pic, another french fisherman.) I know we're hurting the fish with hooks anyway (that's what PETA would say, ;D) but I think there's a fine line between a hook and the damage you'll see in the pic. It happened because of the fish moving at the end of the grip and because the grip would not rotate with the fish. Of course, you can as well hold the grip by the little lanyard, and hope it doesn't break. To sum it up, if you just want to weigh normal fish, go for it. I wouldn't advise it for big fish though.
  6. I really don't see the point in using a grip for largemouth. Unless you want to use it for stripers, dave. IMO, fish grips do damage fish jaws. I don't like them at all. Even worse with big fish.... when you do the math, you're putting the whole weight of the fish on a tiny percentage of its body. I agree with you... that big meat hook on the tournament serie scale does look mean. I'd suggest using a weight bag or replacing the "meat hook" with a plastic clamp.

Hey Daniel ..... I'm pretty positive that you will eventually get to understand the reason for the name ;D
  8. ;D Actually Duct-tape is still way too sophisticated. You should have sealed it with chewing-gum ... that would be more MacGyver-like Wish you the best of luck. Don't forget your PFD ;D
  9. Ah Wilson Bay and the little island ... Y'all make me wanna take the next flight to the Twin-cities and then head north to the Brainerd Area ... Bonne pêche for your Weekend

ahaha Daniel !!! You fell for a new one.... I'm sure there's actually a whole colony of bait-monkeys in your neck of the woods ! As for the Xpod, I've seen one..... I found the concept interesting, but not the bait. That could be an interesting concept on a crankbait (it has already been done anyway). But I felt there was no major variations in the swimming actions of that Xpod. No offense Mr Ito ;D
  11. Nice bass Dave. Looks like a great summer-time Frog pond to me.
  12. Hi Albrecht ! I understand your addiction. First you have to admit that you are powerless over your bassing. I actually know Albrecht from when I lived in Austria. He is the best bass fisherman in Austria, and there are like ...well like 1 Bass fisherman in Austria. Glad you're here. TL PS : here are a couple of pics of Albrecht, since he can not post for the time being. ...... couple of bass from Austria !
  13. Hi Jeff .... I wish you the best of luck. Will you be fishing Gull Lake ? I had the chance to go fishing on that Lake when I was in St Cloud. I just loved to go bass fishing on the little tributary lake (Love lake) between Gull Lake and North Long lake. Keep us posted on your success !
  14. You did forget the Sammy 65 Daniel .... Killer bait for river-smallies. At least you got the best one (IMHO) The 100-size is the best for me ! Works for everything !
  15. Watch out now ! As it has been mentioned by others, jig fishing is addictive. The best part of it (except for the fact that it does catch big fish) has to be the hookset I didn't have to wait so long to catch my first jig bass. I was actually lucky enough to get a bass on my first cast using a jig....plus I was lucky enough not to miss it on the hookset .... I should have stopped right after that bass ... that was a 100% in both catching and setting the hook...... Since then, my average has gone done a bit Anyway, welcome in the big jig family .. (or should I say Sect ?)
  16. I second that ..... well actually if you happen to skip it all day long, you can destroy a couple without even gettint a single bite. Killer bait anyway. 8-) Speaking of Lake Fork's knock-offs, their version of the Java-stick totally sucks
  17. Sweeeeet ! Nice picture and very nice fish in the lower right corner 8-)
  18. Well KVD again .... not much of a surprise any more ! I hope he'll clinch his 4th AOY title in 2008. Too bad he wouldn't thank CJ live on stage for letting touch the Mojo Bracelet ;D ! He almost lost to Horton ... I'm sure the bracelet had a lot to do with the win . : Bravo KVD !
  19. What a jerk I am ! Sure I meant Brian Reeves.... I respect what YOU (Brian) are doing for your countrymen. 8-) I hope you come home safe and sound and that you get to go fishing as much as you want to. You deserve it ! No offense CJ ! And BTW, I also need such a bracelet
  20. Niiiiice ! I guess they had a shortage of shotgun at the local Basspro .... The guys are just training for duck season ! ;D Maybe they can try and catch flying duck .... it could allow for Catch & Release Hunting : Anyway, those guys are just a class on their own. 8-)
  21. Nice looking bass .... and cool to be able to fish during working hours. TL Max
  22. Those are nice .... bravo ! Too bad you had to hide the background.... If you still want to do it ... I'd suggest using photoshop rather than paint ..... you can hide the background and keep the picture nice with photoshop. Keep it secret and enjoy the bite Nice bass anyway !
  23. Nice bass Daniel 8-).... but that's a pretty small "Egli" right there ! Time to go after the big ones..... Any luck with big pikes lately ?
  24. You betcha, his hands are full with mojo..... with what he's done at Wheeler lake last week and what he's doing right now on Kentucky Lake. CJ, I really respect what you're doing for your countrymen, and you sure deserve such a "filled-with-mojo" bracelet. 8-)
  25. Great ! 8-) It sounds like you had a very good trip. The lake looks gorgeous. I'll have to go to Big-G someday. PS1: those meat-balls and sauce looks very tasty. PS2: Hey .... fellow Europeans, I think it's time we start to think about an Annual Roadtrip of the Old World ;D
