Lonestar Shootout
Yop I also heard 10,000 .... seems a bit too much to me too. Perhaps Trip Weldon was also the one who had to set up the stage :

Lonestar Shootout
Unofficially we have 4 guys over Kennedy's record. Martens with 132, Davis with 130 and then Velvick and Scroggins. Of course those are estimations. We are going to be sure of it in a matter of minutes. The footages of Martens and Velvick fishing shoulder-to-shoulder were sick .

Louis XIV also had Zanders ...
This was actually just for the fun of it. And a bet with a friend too. I usually don't target for zander, but it was fun and fishing under the pressure of getting caught is pretty weird. Anyway, how did I go pass the security with a rod and reel you asked Grimlin? I guess a picture is worth a thousand words. The rod is a wimpy 4-piece trout rod. So I can tell you battling zanders on it was pretty fun on 4-lbs line. (On the same day I caught another bigger zander in the park; not in a fountain though, in a bassin)

4/4/08--Big Bluegill on a 'strange' bait...
Gee that's a big bluegill.... and on a swimmin' senko too. She had to be hungry or protecting something.

A couple from today
Too bad Daniel, I feel your pain. At least your bass are coming in the shallows at last. Max

What are your fishing weaknesses?
Deep water structure cranking.

Louis XIV also had Zanders ...
Well, just to provide you with an inside look into french history. Here's something completely unallowed, but I'm not going to jail for that ... Here in France, the brook trout is known as "Le saumon de fontaine" (litteraly, Fountain Salmon). Well I just caught a Fountain Zander in one of the foutain of the Versailles Palace's garden. Wasn't able to fish very long because of the security. But here's for you. The fountain were it was caught (behind me in the picture) is called the "Bassin d'Apollon". Pretty unusual. Notice how I had not to look like a fisherman and dress accordingly to fool the security service. I even brought a attach é case and a copy of Seneca's Letters to Lucilius, just to fool the "enemy" : Hope you enjoy it. The picture was taken by a new-york city tourist, and I think she almost freaked out. ;D

Lonestar Shootout
The weights are indeed breathtaking, to say the least. I'd love to see the a pic of the tank were they put the bass after the weigh-in..... (provided there's such a thing as a collect-tank). Does somebody know whether fishermen are allowed to cross the border or just fishing at home ? I'm also waiting to see whether Velvick is going to hold or just reenact what he did at the Citrus Slam. I hope we will see one record being broken. Steve Kennedy's ? Dean Rojas's ? Mark Tyler's ?

Lonestar Shootout
The best weights were caught deep, weren't they ? It's going to be a pleasing tourney to follow. That's for sure.

Lake Yojoa Honduras
Lake Yojoa was said to be a very good bass fishery in the 1970's-80's. But it seems it has been overfished. Nice lake anyway.

The ROYAL Pike of Louis XIV
Interesting, I didn't know that .... That's a freaking behemoth this guy is holding in your pic. I'm not really a pike-freak myself. BTW, that's pretty funny. I'd do anything to live in Florida and thus have access to all the tremendous fishing opportunities... but you live there and you want to fish for northern pikes. Man oh man, life is hard @Fishizzle: thanks for the compliment on the dress code. I didn't do it on purpose though, I just so happened that I was dressed that way. I wasn't really fishing, I mean if I am to hit the water for a full day I will use more casual clothes. Anyway, my ISP is currently not doing his job and I think I'll have to switch. I'm having a hard time to browse the forums (not the forum fault by any mean). I'll see you back in a couple of days.

The ROYAL Pike of Louis XIV
Yop Skillet, Down with the King ;D ! Thanks y'all for you replies. @ Rolo : How do you know Lake Irr in Austria (Irr-see) ? The sound of music? I've lived one year in Austria and a friend of mine has his parents in Salzburg, pretty close to Lake Irr. @Maltese Falcon : We sure have tons of perch here, but I'll trade them for smallmouth any day @BRBBassmaster : Pretty crazy indeed ! I can answer your questions, there ain't no bass in those lakes...at least not yet : ! Next time you come over to Versailles, let me know.

Lure Quizz !
Well, that's a weird lure, John ! I don't have one, but a friend of mine uses it for seabass, so I got the chance to try it a little. I wasn't very impressed by it. I would say that the best point of this lure is that it's freaking heavy for its size..... Pretty good castability and a good weight to fish it vertically. Kinda like a vertical jerkbait, pretty weird ! Naturally, it has a strong rolling and you mainly fish vertical. I wasn't very impressed by the action on a steady retrieve. They also use it for light trolling sometimes. So, Grimlin, let's see the next lure.

Kistler Customs Today
Nice work they have done here ! I'm partial to the LTAs...I've a bunch of them first LTAs. I don't really like the new design they've done for the second-generation LTAs though. Kistler rocks ! 8-)

Ahh buddies.... What can I say ???
As soon as I saw the title of your thread in the list, I know I was going to see some huge fish .... Well again, congratulations from the other side of the atlantic ! I remember on your TBO website you once said that you wanted to catch a bass that has the profile of Mr. Crupi's 18lber..... Well this one has a very similar shape ! Dream fish in every aspects. 8-) Bravo !

Lure Quizz !
There you go Grimlin ! Now you guys know Tackle House ... they do have a couple of weird-looking lures !! Lots of upside down designs by them. You're next grimlin.

The ROYAL Pike of Louis XIV
And here's one of the yellow perch ... if you look close enough you might be able to see the Versailles Palace in the background. So much for tourism

The ROYAL Pike of Louis XIV
Well, I was paying a visit to my parents in Versailles and decided I had to go fishing in the little man-made reservoirs that surround the Versailles Palace. I don't know if it's really legal ... no sign whatsoever though ! I might get my head chopped off in a near future I was fishing a Flashminnow 110 and eventually caught a couple of yellow perch and a small pike. Well the tourists that were visiting the garden were just as suprised as I was..... Here's the picture they took.

Lure Quizz !
I reckon this lure is quite a gimmick, and I'm going to use it. But I thought it was a good way to try and have T-rig back in business with japanese stuff.... well maybe, he hasn't seen the post ! Anyway, here's a hint ! The name of the bait (brand+model) contains the words : - Rolling - Tackle ...and it is available in two different sizes : 77 - 88 Ok I pretty much gave it away Dumbdog.. looking for it on ichibantackle was pretty clever ! Infortunately you won't find it there. I'll just say that nowadays the most comprehensive lure source has to be EBAY !

Your favorite soft plastic stickbait color?
- Black / Red Flakes - Junebug - White - and red-based colors

Lure Quizz !
Well I gotta say my friend Google was pretty helpfull on that one. I'm almost sure I have already seen this frog before, but I would have never been able to tell you the name if it wasn't for your clue and Google. The distribution of these baits seemed to be very limited in both time and space. Pretty confidential distribution it seems. Nice little frog anyway ! 8-) OK here's the next bait. Let's go to Japan a little bit. I think that we should be able to see Daniel back with this one !

Sunglasses?
Well they sure help when you're sight-fishing or fishing pretty shallow .... But like most of the people said, they also help avoiding headaches and protecting your eyes. I either use Oakley (pretty expensive but they were given to me) or Fenwick interchangeable .... Only once I forgot my sunglasses... first I was pretty p***ed off and I got a terrible head-ache at the end of the day. Same when you forget you're sunglasses when sailing or skiing.
