Color choice is easy ..... black or black ! I have only gotten the chance to do it in private ponds or in public waters (once in the US), because here you're not allowed to fish at night (which sucks). I had a 1/2oz full black (even the blades) double-colorado (the second blade was pretty big indeed). That was a custom spinner .... and it was a good catcher..... I think only the wire on that bait wasn't black-colored .

on a low-light, low wind day I love to use prop-baits like the splash-tail, the wate tail, or a skitter prop...if I'm fishing open water. When there's a bit more wind I like to switch to a buzzbait, I prefer a buzz when fishing around grass or wood cover. For your conditions, I'll start with either a sammy/zara or a splash-tail. As for the middle of day being overcast and windy, I totally agree with what Catt just said... my choice would be a Buzzbait ! I'm partial to golden-prop white/chart buzzbaits

Ok so here's the next challenge. New rule though : to avoid playing just with Daniel ! From now on, it's not permitted for one player to give back-to-back answers on the posted lures. Let me explain myself : For instance, 1- Player X posts a lure 2 - Player Y finds the lure 3 - Player Y posts a new lure 4 - Player X can not answer this one within the first 24 hours. Is that OK with everyone participating ? There you go with the new one (Here T-rig is not allowed to answer in the first 24 hours) ;D

Mine will have to be either a weightless 7" senko or a jig with a nice chunk on it. I'm not much of a swimbait fisherman, I guess I should try to use them more.

Nice little zander Daniel ! Funny it's so dark .... they're usually that dark when spawning or getting ready to. Looks like you caught him pretty shallow on that gravel bar .... well if your zanders are starting to spawn, that should be bass's turn anytime soon. Do I spot an Ice-tea bottle in the boat ?

Be sure to keep us posted on your next creation. Do you plan to do a gizzard shad photo-finish on that bait ? Or will you paint it ?

There are so many brands out there making LC knock-offs .... Usually the pointer, the sammy and the staysee get faked the most. R2S has a bunch of fakes (Sammy, Pointer, Staysee and Bevyshad), and we have a lot of others brands here that fake them .... I would say almost all those fakes come from the same factory in China. BTW Kevin, it's highly possible that the pointer you bought is a real LC... cause you mentioned that it's a Pointer but the SB/SR one (short bill/shallow runner), and there's indeed a Pointer SR 78 in floating. But normally, it has never been distributed in the US. If you still have a doubt, post a pic I should be able to tell you what it is. TL

Nice bass ! Was that still in the land of the rolling prairie after the 90 miles toward south ? I've got friends in Spirit Lake and they told it's still pretty cold up there. Well seeing all the many clothes you have on you, I bet it wasn't real warm either. Congrats on a nice bass !

Here are a few other shots I did a couple of years back ! This bait was made out of Balsa wood and not destined to hit the water... rather a training to enhance my carving skills. Here the back of the front halve of the balsa bait. Here are the 2 eye-screws glued in place at the back of the front halve of the lure Here you can see the 4 eye-screws glued in place. I normally use only 2 that are the one in the front halve of the lure. That's the rear halve of the bait The nail goes through those tiny holes in the wood, as well as though the eye-screws ! View from the top, you can see the top of the nail I used for the axis ! Here you can see the two parts jointed together ! And here's the bait when finished ... without its lip though ! Hopefully those many pics won't slow down the site ! I hope it helps you with your own wooden swimbaits ! Homemade lures are a lot of work, but a lot of fun too. Feel free to ask questions....
