  1. St Croix SCIII casting. 6'8" med/ xf... 1/4-5/8oz
  2. Any one living in FL use float tubes? I have been wanting to fish some of the bigger lakes around my area but am a little tentative about some of the bigger gators in those lakes. Has anyone heard anything about guys using them being targets for gators?
  3. One more question.. How do you know what size tip top to get?
  4. Thanks that is a much better explanation. So you wrap a 360 a total of 3 times correct? So i would go locking with a 360, locking with a 360, locking with a 360 and then the final 2 blocking wraps?
  5. Ok, guys i am taking what you all have said to heart and have put the scV away and am ordering an scIII casting for a spinnerbait setup. I am also getting reg alconites since i will be using yo zuri hybrid on the rod and not braid. The total cost of the rod when done will be about 130 which if it doesn't come out perfect i am ok with that. I have done some reading over on rodbuilding and think i have the jest of it. the only thing that i am finding hard to picture is the locking wrap technique. Is this only for spinning rods or casting also and is there a picture tutorial or video for how this is done. I have heard this is the best way to wrap the guides and less chance of cracking the epoxy at the guide feet. Is this true? Thanks for all the help guys. I do take what you say to heart and appreciate the the criticism.
  6. I have been fishing a long time but i always did the same things year round and never payed attention to where the bass may be holding as the year goes by. I live in central florida and don't have a clue what water temps are or how to tell when the fish have spawned. It has been in the low 90's for the last 2 weeks or so. I am just looking for some information on what may increase my chances during this time of year down here. I fish 3 lakes/ponds in particular. There is no real structure in these lakes just open shoreline and reeds with some hydrilla along the bottom and shore line. On the biggest lake there is a 20 foot drop about 15 feet put throughout most of it. What would be some things to try given these conditions. Oh, and we are in a serious drought right now. how this effects the fish i don't know. With the drought and no cover will they be in the deepest/ middle of these lakes?
  7. Are the sic titanium guides really that much better? i priced it out and it will be another 100 over regular alconite guides. Can you tell a difference in casting distance and overall weight of the rod with them? Or is it purely for longevity?
  8. Give the yo zuri rattlin vibe a shot. It is by far the best lipless bait i've used. I hear stories of the red eye shads eyes falling off and then it doesn't run true
  9. I am building my first rod and going to be using a St Croix SCV blank, 7' M/F... I am getting a St Croix butt kit from mudhole and their beggginer kit. Now my question is what are the best guides to use on my build? I will be using 15lb power pro braid with a fluoro leader. I would like it to be as light as possible with great sensitivity since this is going to be my weightless plastics rod. Also what is the best thread? What brand and size? Any suggestions on the guides or anything about the build please let me know.
  10. You guys crack me up! I used the Zoom trick worms today and the bite was on! 13 on the trick worms 1 on a pointer 78 and 1 on a RC crank. All in about 2 hours.
  11. Bait monkey got me good today! Decided to hit up BPS in Orlando. Came out with 15lb Power Pro braid 2 Lucky Craft RC 1.5 cranks Chartreuse perch and Pearl green shad 2 Yo Zuri Rattlin Vibes Black/chrome and Matte tiger Pack of 6" Yum dingers Pack of Zoom brush hogs Pack of Zoom trick worms Terminator SS spinnerbait Reel butter oil I used the RC chartreuse perch today for about 30 min before dark and caught 4 LMB. The action on this thing is amazing! The only bad thing is i can already see where some of the paint is coming off from hooks hitting the side of the bait. It won't stop me from getting more though, every LC product i've ever used has produced! I can't wait to try the rest out tomorrow
  12. I just used my Lucky Craft RC 1.5 today in a lake with no perch and caught 4 bass in 30 min. Color was chartreuse perch. Best crankbait i've ever used by the way!
  13. Watermelon black and red fleck (clear and stained water)
  14. LC sammy 85 and 100 Old favorite was deff a pop-r though
  15. Let us know how those megabass lures work out. He got me good too. Went to BPS and the had a but 2 get 1 free Lucky Craft Sammy sale. How in the world is he gonna let me pass up a free sammy. Whooped me good!
