Water and sleep.

Over the past couple years I have become a firm believer in drinking 2 or 3 bottles of water before you go to bed.  It really minimizes hang overs.

Fight fire with fire, get a beer.

Don 't know if drinking a beer "cures" the hangover but one thing is for shure, after drinking it you forget you have a hangover.

always take motrin before you go to bed... soon as you get up drink a LOT of water... always helped me... either that or know when to say when... but mannnnnnnnnnnnnn sometimes you just can't say when  ;D  my going away party in December is going to be one of those times

Power-aid and Advil ;) water before bed but I guess its to late for that. Some would say a little of the kind, but thats just a rumour.

A nutritionist once explained what alcohol does to your body and the short of it was that your body needs to replace carbs, sugars, water, and electrolytes.  What he told me to do was to have a piece of dry toast with some honey on it and some water, gatorade, powerade, or other sport drink.  I am a firm believer in this and if its not available I always try to have a couple bottles of water and a banana or apple or something that has some sugar and vitamins.  Also I found out a good cure for a hangover is not listening to your buddy when he says come on one more shot of jager.

these are terrible, terrible ideas. You should never take an ibuprofen medication if you have been drinking.

From what I have learned, the true cause of a hangover isn't really known, but many think it can be caused by dehydration (for every 12 ounces of beer you drink, you lost 48 ounces of liquid in urine) so the best advice I can give you if you insist on drinking is to drink lots of water along with the beer or during the hangover.

I say the best way to cure a hangover is to not get one in the first place. ;)

That's exactly what I was going to post. It's worked for me for over 12 years. I was not the kind of guy who could have "just a few". I was always having "just a few too many", so I had to give it up. Heck, the only reason I ever started drinking was to get drunk in the first place.

Watch the bottle man, it'll mess you up if you let it!! (IMO) ;)

God bless,

try an airborne and casually sip a sprite--this will cure a lot of different stuff including hangovers.

Two liters of 9 1/2 Normal Saline given intravenously.

I just went down stairs to the Emergancy Room here at work and asked the Attending Physician. He said the best way he knows of is much like what Pond Hopper said. One or two bottles of Gatoraid and some crackers or cookies should help speed things up.

I have 2 tried and true methods for relieving a hangover.  The first is to drink 2 litres of water before going to sleep.  It will re-hydrate you, and sometimes, if you're lucky, all that mixed up liquid in your system will make you throw up which will deffinately help you in the morning.

If I haven't had enough water, I find that the next day an egg sandwich with cheese (no meat) chased by a bottle of Nestle's Quick is spot on to make me feel better.

when I get a hangover the night before the next day is so screwed up..I just want to sleep and eat soup all day.

hmm welll while you are drinking eat a bunch of deviled eggs and slim jims... and I mean A LOT!!!!  a dozen of each! while the next day your hangover won't be any better your "beer farts"  :o will be so lethal everyone will leave you alone and not mess with you while you lay around the house miserable and hating EVERY DANG COUGH MEDICINE COMMERCIAL THAT COMES ON THE TV!!!!   ;D

SFC_AL you will understand this one.

Try running in platoon formation on Monday morning. Beer sweat is a smell you will never forget.  ;)

what is airborne?

and just to reiterate, taking ibuprofen while drinking is a very bad idea. It can cause bleeding in your stomach which is worse than any hangover.

Back when I drank...and I mean DRANK...if I were sober enough to remember, I would eat some toast, crackers, or something like that. Then I would chug about a gallon of water and with the last chug, I would take one Aleve. If I am not mistaken, the active ingredient in Aleve (naproxen sodium) does not react with alcohol like the active ingredients in Advil, Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Excedrin, and Aspirin do. worked everytime I remembered to do it. When I didn't....oh boy....worst night I ever had was a lot...and I mean a lot of Bacardi Gold. Made me sick ALL of the next day. Never got out of bed that day and spent a lot of time praying to the Porcelin God in Swahili.

  • Super User

you're right, aleve is different than advil

Im a big believer in what you drink is what your gonna feel like the next day. Drinking a case of Busch is gunna have you hurting the next day but you probablly wouldnt feel as bad if it was Heineken or New Castle, etc.

just my .02

Two Excedrin migraine before going to sleep kills a hangover before it starts. It may be bad for the stomach but it works!

  • Super User

excedrin is tylenol and aspirin, so as far as I know it won't damage your stomach like ibuprofen.
