that race track is on Grand tourismo.  With a steering wheel and a race car like that you get the same rush as watching that video.  Just awsome.

My wife gave me a Richard Petty Racing School Ride-Along for Christmas last year so I did it this summer.

The driver and I hit 135 MPH on the track.  

All I could do was hold on for dear life.

I had a headache all day long after the ride.

Would I do it again?  No, I don't like being locked in so tight.

But I have a lot of respect for the NASCAR drivers and the physical endurance and stamina they must have to race week after week.

I was leaning and bent the arm on my office chair,LOL.    That is way cool.

That is awesome. My head was kinda spinning by the time it was over. I don't care to watch NASCAR but like Sam said I have a lot of respect for what those guys do. Any high speed racing really. Those guys are in those cars for hours on end and their bodies have to take a serious beating.

I do good enough to control my road rage on the highway much less a race track doing 150+.  

Now just imagine pakages flying out of the side of the car and thats how Russ delivers  ;D

Cool. Talk about skill. Driving stick is hard enough. Add in those high speed corners and speed at which that thing accelerates forget it. That is just coordination at its finest. Add that on to the amount of time they have to be jammed tight into that car and some of the conditions they do it under. Pouring rain? forget it. Race car drivers are a special breed. Some call it crazy others call it easy. Crazy? to a certain extent...yes. But its so much more. The amount of skill and coordination involved is just so great. Its more than anything in any other sport anywhere. The difficulty is often overlooked which is sad. Those that know how to or drive a stick shift now know what I mean. If your daily driver is stick you may say it really isn't that hard but his 1st gear last what? a second? lol Just crazy.

Reminds me of a 'Sunday Drive' in Eastern Kentucky where I grew-up.

Well, I agree with the talent and physical beating they take but driving a stick is actually pretty easy.  Those cars are not stick shift cars though, they have an electronic gear box, shifting is done with buttons on the wheel.

World Rally Drivers are argueably the best drivers in the world. As you saw from the video, it takes cat like reflexes and you've got to be thinking several hundred yards down the road to go that fast.  Miss a turn and you go off a cliff.

Makes oval racing downright boring.

So how does the paddle work? It isn't a "mechanical" connection to like, the linkage is it? I always assumed it was all electronic, up shifting on one side, down on the other. The paddle makes alot of sense. Are F1 cars the same? This is originally the car I had in mind.
