ive got two types or crawfish "immitations" that i am considering to use as a jig trialer, ive got berkley chigger craws and yum wooly hawg craws, what would you use, i like the chigger craws because the hawg craws seem like a little to much, thanks for any opinions

chigger craw looks alot more like a real craw than the wooly hawg craw. so it depends what you're looking for. if you want a realistic one, go with the berkley, if you want more of a "creature" profile, then go with the YUM. personally, i'd go with the YUM, but thats just me.

They both will work.

The plastic trailer that most closely resembles the shape of a crayfish is not always the most productive.

Compare each trailer by hopping and crawling them on the same weight jig you'll be using.

Then choose the trailer with the most provocative action and slowest fall rate.

i have used both without a jig and the crigger craw definety produces more but  i have also used both as trailers and seen no markable definerence in the number of bites or size of the bass  if were strictly using them as trailers i would go with which ever one is cheaper but if u want them for trailers or on shakeyheads i would go with the crigger craw

I'm a firm believer in using only soft plastic craws or trailers that provide their own excellent action on the fall as well as with the slightest movement of the rod tip. Let's face it, none of us just drop and drag the bait and hope we get a strike, we all know that small twitches and added movement in our presentation always produce better results.  I have found that softy's with their own super action give much better results with slowing the fall rate and holding the jig or bait in the strike zone a little longer or gets spastic action when hopped gently aver structure. Can we catch fish on soft baits that look dead on the fall or drag, of course, but predator fish like to kill their own meal much better. I'm gonna follow the advice of the pro trend and fish the best action baits I can find and just concentrate on location and sett'in the hook.

The best action craws on the market in my opinion are Rage Tail #1, Paca and Zoom speed craw,  then I go to twin tail grubs as trailers if I'm out of the rest.

I don't know the exact name of this one but the Shaw Grigsby plastics (strike king) make a tiny little craw that is a very nice, SMALL succulent little morsel.  !/8 oz bullt,pegged or as a trailer, deadly.

I want to see if LBH can talk Brent into researching both a tiny craw and a craw trailer for 08.

I use the Berkley Power Craws. Gonna try the Chiggers this season.

i would use the chigger craws put i like the paca better

I use two craws for most applications:

1. Zoom Speed Craw (the original model with smaller claws)

2. Zoom Little Critter Craw

I use the Speed craw as a jig trailer on my Football jigs for structure fishing and TX rigged for swimming in and over grass.

I use the Little Critter Craw as a trailer for my finesse jigs (Eakins 5/16 an 7/16).

I have some Baby Paca Craws that I use occassionally on a shaky head when night fishing, but I really like the Zoom craws best. The Chigger is probably most similar to the Paca b/c of the claw design.

Hmm, well out of the 2, I'd go with the chigger craws. The Yum Wooly Hawg Craw IMO is better for t-rigging and pegging with a bullet weight to flip/pitch into cover, like a Sweet Beaver or a Baby Brush Hog.

Now I wouldn't say chigger craws are the best trailers, I use them for a cheap trailer that I have no fear of wasting. But my top producing trailers (majority being craw trailers) are Yum Chunks, Netbait Paca Chunks, Zoom Super Chunks, and a GYCB Hula Grub for when I plan to have a little more action/or fish the bait a little quicker.

I highly recommend the Yum Chunk if you want to try the Yum baits as trailers. They are without a doubt my top producing trailer.

texas rig a Gene Larew craw... go to bait in the summertime... especially in small lakes/tanks......

I've had moderate success using the yum craw baits but I only use them directly around rocks, and in rivers.  They are dynomite in those conditions but they seem marginal elsewhere from my own experience.
